Clone vat? Yes. This is standard procedure.

EDIT 1: For what it is worth http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Clone_Vat_Bay_I

"It is important to note that once the Vat Bay is activated the Rorqual or Titan will be incapacitated until the activation timer expires. The only exception to this is that although unable to move a Rorqual will still be able to dock if in range of a station or outpost. "

EDIT 2: An old post of mine on using the vat http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=1492805&page=1#2

No, because you can not get inside "POS shields".

However, you can activate a clone vat and industrial core from within a force field. Blink

Is it viable tactics in any situation whatspever to have rorqual in a belt assisting in tractoring ore and compressing while hulks macks and all rest mine and dump cargo? (plus it would be tanking the rats of course...).

I find that role both cocky and interesting as well as adventurous so I wonder....

Rorqual Overpowered Much?

In a dead-end system deep in sov held blue space covered by intel channels, and preferably a cyno jammed system (doesn't stop covert cynos though), a foolhardy Rorqual pilot with more ISK than cares might consider it.

The Rorqual has a capital shield transfer bonus to keep miners safe, and drone bonus to deal with nulsec belt rats like triple battleship spawns and their escorts. However against any player ships, it is basically a freighter with drones, and no match for anything that can be hot-dropped on it.

However I suspect most Rorquals outside force fields are bait "Battle-Rorqs".

Also read Yarrin': The Little Frigates That Could [though the pilot was AFK and the Rorqual had an atrociously bad fit, it is still a good read]

The best place for a rorq is in a pos shield. A pilot with mindlink and t2 bonus is giving out extreme mining bonus. Have an orca do all the transporting. Whatever is brought back can be compressed. Always carry lots of heavy water. DO NOT RISK A 3.6 BILLION ISK SHIP IN A BELT!!! consider the rorq to be a less expensive jump freighter. Station to station jumps only.

Have the prices gotten so high?
