Small POS for a C1 wh

I have done lots of reading on wh space and the advice is go big or go home when it comes to pos size.

However this isnt much of an option for me since I dont know if I want to commit that much effort and isk. However I'm completely comfortable with throwing a small pos and losing it within a couple weeks just so I can get an idea of what wh life is like.

Plus since it is a c1 the mass restrictions on the wh work in my favour I guess by stopping large fleets from jumping in.

So my question is how long do you think a small pos would last in a c1 wh if it was set up with a decent amount of ecm as a minor deterrent?

It will last until you give someone a reason to spend the time to take it down.

If you set it up in a system where somebody already lives, it probably will last less than a week.

If you leave expensive-looking ships floating inside the shields, same.

You can get away with small pos's if you have a large pos as backup. You really can't fit anytype of significant defense on a small.

You can get away with a Medium though (if you stay under the radar).

bashing a tower is annoying and boring. If your in a C1-C4 I would say you are likely to be fine provided your not dropping it in someone else's WH, or you have stuff at it that would lead people to think it is a juicy target.

Specifically a C1 no one is going to bother with your tower unless you **** off people already living there.

If your comfortable with losing it and its a bit of an experiment then I wouldn't be dead against a small POS in a C1. Any other system and any plans for a longer stay I'd definitely advice a large tho.

Not sure if hangar drops are still broken but until CCP fix that people will be less likely to stront check even lightly defended small POS unless theres a strong hint of something good dropping.

Thanks for the replies guys. What you have said was pretty much what i was thinking but it is nice to have an outside opinion on the matter.

Now ive just got to find an empty c1 which isnt going so well for me P

do not rely on only ecm you need some guns or the ecm not last.

But the amount of guns you can fit on a small pos is rather pathetic and probably easily tanked by a couple spider tanked ships or a logi or two in fleet. Because of this I just thought ecm would be more of a pain in the arse and more likely to put people off.

Just invest in a large and dickstar it in an empty system. Your investment is larger, but your assets are infinitely safer in a c1. Just take it down/abandon it at the end of your experiment. You should more than recoup your investment even in a C1.

I know of man who lives for months in small pos i C4 and he have never been attacked. IDK about C1s they all alwas seem to me cluttered with poses and hungry BCs.

small towers are fine if you just want a safe while you are in system. its a good spot to pile up the loot, keep a spare ship or two. and have a transport ready to load up the loot and the tower and head back to hsec at the end of the day.

if you are solo in system its kinda pointless, but if you are playing with a small fleet of randoms or corpies, then it can prove to invaluable.

leaving it overnight will be a gamble, and chances are you will wake up to see it reinforced because even a small cruiser gang can reinforce it. still, usually no one sticks around if you put a good 8 -10 hrs timer on it, so you can go back and rep it. just save yourself the trouble and un-anchor it at the end of the day, load it on a transport, warp to a safe and do a safe logout.

magic, magic.
