Hello fellow traders :)

Firstly I'd like to apologise for my bad english, i'm not english guy so it's not perfect, keep that in mind :P

Secondly, I'd like to ask quite important question and probably not only for me. I'm using eve-profit and it's A W E S O M E tool.

What i need to know is how exactly "merging system" works? It should combine 2 different characters and calculate their profits if one only buys stuff, and the other one sells.
How about combining profits from 2 completely different traders? Let me explain. I have 2 trade alts in 2 different hubs, everyone trading on it's own, just in different places. Each one has different wallet etc. Is it possible to merge this 2 characters into 1, to be able to see their profits combined as it would be 1, BIG trader?
Eve profit is going to calculate right profits for each hub and sum them, or it's gonna mess with different prices from different hubs (like buy order in amarr, and sell order in dodixie)?

And another question, if it's possible, how many characters can i merge into 1 "account"?

Thanks in advance,
Sony

its a first in first out system. so if you buy in jita and sell first in dodixie it will calculate it that way. eve if both chars are buying/selling the same items

But even with a first in first out system (FIFO), the calculated total profit from both characters will be the same in the long term. You just might see the profit in an earlier or later transcation.

example:

You buy and sell 1 Medium Shield Extender II in 2 different Trade Hubs for 0.2 mil profit each

Seperate Hub calculation:
Buy: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Rens, 1,5 mil
Buy: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Jita, 1 mil
Sell: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Jita for 1,2 mil => 0.2 mil profit
Sell: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Rens for 1,7 mil => 0.2 mil profit

Total Profit 0.2 + 0.2 = 0.4

FIFO calculation:

Buy: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Rens, 1,5 mil
Buy: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Jita, 1 mil
Sell: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Jita, 1,2 mil => -0,3 mil profit
Sell: 1 Medium Shield Extender II in Rens, 1,7 mil => 0.7 mil profit

Total Profit 0.7 - 03 = 0.4

So the totals will be the same after liquidating your stock in both hubs.

Thank you very much for that explanation, it helps me a lot :)

and piter is right if it sells in the wrong order it will show a loss the first time then a greater gain the second time resulting in the same profit calculation.

Thanks guys for helping him out!

I'd like to add on to this, from what I've seen even if you've sold all the stock you had it'll keep the last known cost. I've got a few items I manufacture that show losses because I also will buy them from a sell order elsewhere so it sees me buying Item A for 1.5m ISK and then I'm selling 100 of my manufactured Item A in Jita for 1m ISK each I'm getting a loss for all those sales. This rarely has been a issue in any items I actually traded in though and I been looking into adding industry into the website for this exact reason.

One minor (and easily addressable) bug I have found is in the password reset function. When a new password is issued, it lists the original authors email address as the source. I have spoken with him, and he is happy that someone is working with the code, but he suggested you may want to change the email address.

edit; wall of text begone

Sorry about that wall of text if you read it. Quite exhausted right now so I neglected to understand this the first time I read it. I will fix this after I get some sleep so I don't accidentally screw anything up. Thanks for letting me know about this!

What issue is coming up? I just registered a random account without any problems.

I used this tool when I was a station trader. I moved to NEAT and then to EVE-Mogul when I started to trade between different regions. Now, I see you support this kind of trading with this tool but I use only corporation orders/wallet. It's easier to manage different alts because all can have access to the same wallet, corp hangars/market delivery's.

Will this be supported in the future?

In the future? Yes.

Near future? I am doubtful, I can see how it is wanted so I definitiely would like to get it added at some point in time.

the site by default has a combine option. You have to load the API keys for all the characters then select them from the first screen after you log in. at the bottom it says combine.

doesnt do corp but will do waht you want

Is anyone else noticing a 24 hour delay as to when your orders show up? I know its delayed but before it was only 30 minutes to an hour.

This looks promising, but I noticed all my sale transactions with a loss show exactly a -1.5% loss, when clearly I know from checking manually it should be in the green.

i cant say for sure on his site cuase i run an inhouse version of this.

But if you have a sale and no recorded transaction in your databse it will show the loss of whatever your taxes are in your case 1.5%.

cant comment on a 24hour delay since i dont run the site but the delay for the API is 1 hour.

Just listed a random unit of an item and I had no issues seeing it under my "Market Orders" tab. Are you noticing this delay in other applications as well(eve mentat, eve mogul, jeveassets, etc.)?

I have not changed any of the core code that handle any profit tracking. I have noticed this behaviour as well though in items I've never bought, if you bought those items on another character add that onto the website then merge the two characters and you should see the proper profit rate.

This gets especially bad when you buy an item you manufacture(I can't be the only one who does this... right?) and the market goes down a fair bit.

yea serene this happens all the time for me also with manufacturing. i cant be bothered to change mine personally though. its only 0.5% for me everytime so i dont really care. im not trying to get exacts anyway with my profit as long as im averaging good enough for me a week im happy.
