Great point

Result would be that goons might go bust because no-one would be a renter to such a wonderful, trustworthy and upright organisation that the goons are .... gosh - must go and vomit

I am aware of my own ignorance and have checked my emotional quotient - thanks for asking

Couriers take isk and plenty of it for hireage AND COLLATERAL. Where is a casual player going to get that amount of isk?

Time is the enemy here time to make the friends, time to do the stuff that needs doing to lay the foundation to get the isk - time.

And me - I'm a sweetie :)

You're an enemy here? Well, I think you're a neutral but surely you're in highsec with concord right

Probably much better to be a N3 renter, they'll leave whole alliances to die if your sov gets disbanded or people invade you and your defense is worthless. Stuff like that.

They put up the collateral silly. You only have to set aside the reward and the tiny fees. Couriers are extremely cheap. If you can't price in the courier cost and still make a killing in the market, you are doing something extremely wrong.

This time thing you keeping going on about... My best friendly advice I can give you, and this applies in life as well, is to work smarter not harder. People that want to punch a timeclock in the game do things like mining in the purest example. Ratting is not much better. Now if you want to minimize time spent while maximizing isk, you have to think smarter than the average player and stop thinking so much about isk per hour.

Based on everything you have said so far (which of course means there's lots I don't know about you,) my suggestion is to trade the market. Now before you start mentioning .01'ing, I'll just nip that right in the bud. Stay away from that crap. The casual trader absolutely must stay away from high volume investments such as minerals and most ammo.

I trade off and on- I'm probably the most casual laid back player you will run into. Sure there are days where I'm logged in all day. There's also weeks I don't think about the game. It's a game- I'm here for fun, just like any other game. It's not a job.

Anyway, I suggest that you focus on trading more or less how I do. Look for items that have consistent but not crazy volume- and not too many orders. These items also must have wide spreads between the bid and ask (or as eve traders like to say buy and sell prices-a term that is a pet peeve of mine and unique to eve not the real world.) Just station trade. Forget about moving stuff around. Don't worry about pricing in other regions. Spread your isk among items and check the charts to make sure they are not being manipulated.

You will not have to babysit your orders because the competition isn't babysitting theirs. Now, my specific advice will be different based on your isk balance and other factors but I don't know any of that for you.

If you are serious about wanting to make isk without treating Eve as a job, contact me in game and we can discuss in more detail.

edit* I see you added some posts while I was typing. The goons are not so bad. I am confident that the rental thing will work out fine for renters mainly because it was posted on themittani.com. Regardless of what anyone thinks, there's not a chance in hell that site's growth will be risked by an internet spaceship scam. That being said, you can also rent from NC. The difference between Goons and NC. is that Goons just want to have fun and they play a role within the game. While I have some friends in NC, most are actually just pricks in general and take the game way too seriously. But forget those groups even- there are others out there. But based on your comments, I'm assuming renting is out of the question yourself unless you join a corp currently renting. and paying the cost.

OP's view on what tears are is limited. Tears - or better complaints - can be anything a person says. When Goons call others pubbies is this often just another complaint and not any different.

What annoys is the amount of tears coming from individuals. When individuals cannot snap out of it then it is bad.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

When did this ever become about me?

I have no issues around existing in Eve, I have the time and I have played consistently over the amount of years so it is not about me. I like to look at others perspectives and offer suggestions why people are. Why they react the way they do when faced with situation is of interest to me. Why people gank, scam, are industrialists, follows mittans (haven't sorted that one out at all) be a goon (yep failed there too) and lastly be a RENTER of the goons. Pure masochism is the only suggestion I can arrive at .

This is about the reaction of people to a situation and why it has come to pass. I'm fine thanks and you are not my type so we won't be meeting

EVE actively promotes itself as a game for sociopaths, so of course it will attract plenty of them. And sociopaths like to make people cry.

Simple as that, really.

There seems to be only one way that I can see a casual player (remember, limited time) having a reasonable Eve experience. They become the gankers. You cannot play this game as an industrial casually.

Untrue, it's totally possible to clear a PLEX or 2 a month playing casually through industry and trade, you just have to be smart about it. Situational awareness is just as important in those activities as it is in PvP, Goons announce an event like the interdictions? go and sell mining and/or PvP stuff in those areas, sell stuff around the RvB combat areas etc; there's plenty of ways to make isk hand over fist if you put time into research. You can even produce your own stuff without a POS, I know of entire constellations in highsec with 90% availability on manufacture slots, and the waits on the ME/PE and copying slots are not too terribad, worst I've seen is 30 days, best 5.

Think smart, do some research and casual industry and/or trading is very lucrative.

Use one of your spare slots to drum up trade, gank your target market. TwistedPirate

TL;DR War is always good for business, make it "your business".

You made it about you all by yourself with all the tears and anger. I spent my time freely trying to help you, further offering to help you in game. Your response? Being a jerk. LOL

As far as your remaining issues trying to understand why people like Mittens, join Goons, or rent from Goons- it's not that hard to figure out. I'll help you out on these.

Mittens: People like him because he's funny and smart. You might disagree with the humor, but whatever.

Goons: People join Goons for the same reasons people join other corps- a bunch of friends to hang out with while playing the game, plus all sorts of benefits you don't find in many other corps/alliances/coalitions. If you think Goons are terrible people, you are taking things way too literally in this game. Some of the nicest people I know in game are Goons. Many are directors. Many have happy loving families- they login to have fun, then logoff to do real life stuff. Meanwhile, there are these angry highsec miners who spend all day making isk so that they can fund another account to train up to make more isk, all the while ignoring their families. Seriously who is the scarier person?

Renting from Goons: As I have pointed out in many threads, they will be similar to rent from as any other. Anyone who thinks otherwise is truly brainwashed. There is no way at all that Goons would use www.themittani.com to start a scam. That site is too important to risk on space money.

Thank you for that enlightenment Erotica - we can clearly see you affiliation and who you get back-handers from.

But this quote interests me. If I can don my tinfoil hat - what exactly are you saying here?

I have never suggested that Goons aka Mittens would use his web site for a scam, either to start one or to end one so why do you say that? What do you know?
And then to go on to say the site is too important... how is a site that previews games and tells people what the glorious Mittani likes to read/sip on/eat and crap into actually matter?

The last part also intrigues. Space money is serious business to some people. No doubt you have followed the case of the alleged insurance fraud person that got her money - gold bars - out of selling virtual stuff. Are you stipulating that this web site is in some way connected to that sort of illegality?

Just you better follow the rules if you want to be a sociopath. What CCP deems appropiate for its players, is not appropiate for CCP employees. P

Stop bad mouthing honest high sec isk doublers. They are few and far between, and should be treasured.
Erotica has not only offered you solid advise in this thread, but also offered to show you how to make a decent wedge for yourself in a few casual hours, even describing the basic methods involved. A little gratefulness and humility would be appropriate at receiving such an invitation.

As for mittens, I doubt anything a :goon: may tell a pubbie like you, would prevent you interpreting the most innocent of statements to say that he is rmting all our Isk on cocaine and prostitutes and magnum bottles of crystal for the devs who are in his pockets etcRoll

(Erotica I'll send next months 6m Isk in a brown envelope to Ammamake as usual, keep up the good work)

Worse yet, apparently GSF was paying for the plexes that the writers get paid with. Hilarious, but it seemed no one really cared when it was brought up in the audit thread.

That's right, it doesn't make space money, it eats it.

Well Erotica - see we have found your goons alt - or maybe it is the other way round - doesn't really matter.

As expected - you did a political answer on the questions raised and as the goons are all about politics - you still don't surprise me.

If by chance you have nothing to do with Erotica then read the thread - find out where I said it was me I was referring to then feel free to amend your replies.
