Hi Guys,

Im fairly new to the exploration side of things and I am running Relic and Hack sites mostly, I havent managed to haul all my accumalted goodies into Jita to get an idea of whats what yet. but Im more curious as to what the big money maker is?

When you scan a can and go WOOOHOOOOO - What item is it your looking at to make you see the metaphorical 'ikies'?

I understand you can get Blue prints? Is this the sole big bucks loot or arr there other items worth a lot more than the standard loot?

I have tried to look into this before posting but all I can see is that on average Data Cans are the priority as they are most likley to have the highest value loot - but as mentioned above what loot is it that's so valuable

Cheers!

Blueprints, intact armor plates and power circuits.

Yup, that's about it. Data/relic sites are very much a grind now... gone are the days of pulling >150m in T2 salvage from a site.

Faction tower BPC and some of the T2/Capital rig BPC can be worth a bit, the only things that make me go "WOOOHOOOOO", but they are quite rare. There are some other types of T2 salvage that are worth a bit, but compared to Pre-Odyssey prices it's really disappointing.

yeah, explo has been nerfed to the ground.

so bad that actually i don't log my explo alt anymore, it's not worth it, and i would have deactivated the account like many alliance m8 if it was not also holding another toon i use.

actually, i'll probably move this toon on another account and close this one

I just came back and hated the new exploration system. After a few days I had made over a billion isk without breaking a sweat or firing a gun. Is it easier? Yes. Does it pay the bills? Sure does!

You won't see me whining about it any more.

Data/relic site are now incredibly frustrating. First the minigame is purely luck based. You can get to the system core without having to destroy a single defensive system or you get two routes that are blocked by 2-3 defensive systems in a row. If you're unlucky you will lose virus cohesion and fail. If you get unlucky twice the entire thing just blows up and you lose everything. It's a bit ridiculous really. Then you have the can spew. Will you get that somewhat valuable BPC you scanned or will you just get data sheets or some worthless ancillary repair system BPC before you manage to pull that last data can?

Basically unless you are incredibly lucky or incredibly patient with hours a day to spend hunting down data/relic sites, then I would suggest finding another means of making isk. I've been running these sites for a few days now (roughly 15 hours total) in nullsec and have managed to loot about 30-40 mil isk worth of garbage. The best thing I managed to get was a 3 run BPC for an Angel large autocannon array, which isn't worth much at all. I'll spend a couple more days doing this but I think I'd make more isk ratting belts in a cruiser.

You must be doing it wrong. Roughly 10 hours of running data/relic sites in Tenal (Guristas 0.0): 744M ISK according to in-game estimation.

Are the estimates anywhere close to reality now? Haven`t done exploration in a while.

Also combat exploration sites still pay good, even in lowsec.

Expect the next price crash after Odyssey 1.1. I'm sure lot of people were sitting on their stashes, speculating that the first point release brings some changes that will help the prices to rebound. But looks like development has been abondoned and sites will stay as they are for a long time.

That's below level 4 running income. And the trend will continue to go downhill for reason mentioned above. It's not worth it anymore. Only for new players.

OP,

The one thing I can advise you is to bring a Cargo Scanner and use it on-site. This will help you maximize your ISK intake, it shows you if a BPC is hidden in a container (aka focus on Data cans) or whether to focus on Parts to get the other types of good loot!

This is some valuable information, also, take a look at this website: http://neural-boost.com/minicontainer-loot-distribution which contains a nice chart about which cans drop what =)
