Scan down a relic site and head over. Get the cargo scanner going and...oh lordy 22 intact armor plates! Six clicks later and voila! Can is cracked. Just as the lil cans fly out........my RL power goes out.

To make sure something like that never happened to me, I stole the emergency power supply from the local intensive care unit.

Buy a UPS

the entire enemy support fleet is dead except for one interdictor a titan could easily finish off with drones  - Commander Ted

The problem with every UPS i tried, is that they just safely shut down the computer in case of an emergency. What you need to do is buy generator, flip the circuit breaker and just plug the generator directly into the wall outlet.

This will also make any kind of fire insurance useless and save you a lot of money.

Last time I went exploring lost power twice. Once while I was busy with a data site. Nothing big, just some decryptors. Power went part way through the hack. :-(

Power came back an hour later so I tried again. Found a 4/10, warped to it, lights out. That one lasted better part of a day and a half.

no, a correctly choosen UPS will give you between 10 and 15 minutes of full running BEFORE safely shutting down your comp.

wich in your case, would have been enough to at least loot the pinata and safe logoff

I live in the U.S. southwest where this is monsoon season. We get nasty thunderstorms.....and yes a UPS is in order.

As for pricing, I am still getting 6m a piece where I do business.

Intact Armor Plates will soon be worth nothing once people who sit on their stashes waiting for tweaks to the profession sites and loot tables realise that CCP has abondoned the development after the initial release.
