I have been focusing primarily on Caldari ships and missiles, but I have been told that isn't a good way to go for PvP in-game by people in the help channel.

Despite having like 6.5 million skill points and having subscribed for like 3 or 4 months... I still know VERY little about this game... So I am looking at what is good to transition into as far as PvP is concerned since up to now I haven't really done any PvP at all... I got a couple friends into this game and one of them is going pretty hard at the game and wants me to transition into PvP with him.

So I am looking for suggestions as to what I should go into. Whether it be all new ships/weapons or a way to transition into what I have already been doing.

In terms of tips in general... What types of other skills should I start divesting into? Most of my skill points right now are shield tanking, missile launcher operation, and the likes because I planned on eventually utilizing a drake (yeah) for PvE missions.

Thanks for help :)

RLML Caracals are great. Merlins are great. Both are cheap, work well at low sp, and are Caldari.

For a newbie friendly corp, look at Eve Uni, Brave Newbies Inc, or Red vs Blue. All three are very different and provide very different opportunities, so investigate them on your own and form your own opinion.

I think Navigation skills are some of the most important for PvP. High speed Maneuvering 4, Acceleration control 4, Evasive Maneuvering 5 (so you can fly Ceptors eventually), Navigation 5, Warp Drive Operation 4, Afterburner 4, Fuel Conservation 4 are all great investments that don't take tons of time.

After that, T2 tank skills, rigging skills 3-4, fitting skills, and capacitor skills are all low cost, high benefit general PvP skills. Being able to deploy a full flight of Warrior II's makes a huge difference for flying cruiser and above.

Thermodynamics is absolutely critical and completely changes how the game plays. Get 3 for now and think about 4.

Caldari are a fine choice in general and have a strong line of frigs which happens to be a good choice for starting pvp

Very few people with actual pvp skills/knowledge spend much time in that help channel

Good luck o7
