I think this game would be much closer to reality if instead of spaceships and warpgates we had guns and Somalia. Then it would be super close to reality.

yeah old forum rant, just another big shiptoaster's advantage

they all have their whine posts, spam their bad ideas with alts and see who bites.

this awaited me after jumping into GD just minutes ago

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=268662&find=unread

we saw him coming 5 threads ago and were able to prepare

as an expert in spotting troll treads i was able to get through, however forum-warriors would have been an easy target

if I don't make decent posts, i should not show up, it's that simple

How does one add to the topic? By agreeing? Yeah that's a great discussion.

Dammit why do I let this loser keep trolling me?

The bold part says more about Harry then any amount of shiptoasting ever will.

TL;DR Nope, not appearing in local already exists, it's called a wormhole, or logging off.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I've been shitpoasting and trolling these forums since 2008 and if I had a dollar for every thread about local I could buy enough plex to fill a kestrel's cargo hold and set a new record for how fast you can be ganked in Jita.

Actually, would just prefer NO LOCAL whatsoever.

Passive Local (WH's) works fine but is rarely used.

Active Local (everywhere else) is about 99% dead anyway, aside from the odd spammer or cry for help.

The other 1% is Jita, what can you say about JITA and other hubs? Meaningless drek from the plebs, ELIMINATED.

Sure, people love to chat. That's why we have the ability to create channels, and people do it every day.

Sure, people want to look for targets. That's why we have probes and DirScan. Scary, but true, and people use them every day.

And that doesn't even touch on the utils like TS and Vent. Roll

Remove local. It is time for effortless perfect intel to die. If you want that level of intel you must work for it. If you catch me jumping through a gate by actually seeing me from your cloaked ship off gate that is fine. Knowing I am there when your alt is perfectly safe inside a station and looking at local is not.

The prey have used the effortless perfect intel provided by local to make nullsec safer than highsec. That violates the "Risk vs. Reward" aspect of nullsec. Literally the only reason to die in nullsec ratting/mining/carebearing is you blatantly ignored your effortless perfect intel source. It is time to remove this advantage from the prey and allow the hunter to instill the fear that has been absent from nullsec back in the prey. If the prey still wishes to pillage the riches of nullsec then they must face the risk involved. Remove local and the risk come back. If you wish to be safer then put the effort in to collecting the necessary intel to be safer. A simple set of eyes cloaked off a gate should be sufficient.

Do not be naive and think local only provides and advantage to the prey. The advantage local provides to the prey is far greater than the advantage provided to the hunter. However, the hunter still benefits from local. How would they know there is prey to kill if not for local? If you remove local then the hunter must adapt also. No longer can they roam through systems instantly knowing it is empty or not. They must put in effort and skill to find prey if it is there at all. This may even make the prey safer as they can use skill instead of an effortless perfect intel source to evade a skilled hunter.

Local is for chat, not intel. Remove the perfect effortless intel aspect from local to restore it to its intended role: chat. This will restore the risk to nulslec and the balance back to the hunter and the prey.

You do understand the gate camper was being sarcastic?

Also, screenshotting your channel name with the n-word is a good way to get banned. Icelanders tend to be finicky about all that human decency bull ****.

We've had these posts a million times, if you remove local ppl will demand some new type of scanner because dscan is the most childish, 1970s technology system ever invented for a video game (clicking it every 2 seconds for hours and hours, you call that fun???)

And so if local removed we get this awesome new scanning system by popular demand, and it'll just turn out to be LOCAL under a DIFFERENT NAME, and what a waste of Dev time that will be Roll

Flip the flag on the discovery scanner to show ship in addition to anioms. Problem solved. You don't know if it is friendly or enemy. You only know it is there.

Not keen on still having to spam alt-d opposed to a button (easier to put on a programmable keyboard I guess).
