I Was up late last night watching the DOTA2 international tournament. And it got me thinking (that is not always a good thing) that the way they got all the prize money for the matches was very cool. $1.4 million USD went to the winners for them that don't know. How they got that money was by selling vanity items in the game DOTA2 for $1 - $2 each. Small and simple stuff that made no impact on the game it self. Just some pretty skins for the hero's and so on (there was a bit more but I don't know all the details).

We heard at ATix that there will be a (Hopefully) New Eden Open tournament before Christmas. And I was thinking, Why can't we do the same with EvE? OK I have illusions about getting the same sort of prize money as DOTA2. Just not enough players in the game to match that sort of numbers. But what could EvE sell that would get that prize money up?

Well. Some sort of UI update to your BIO page that when pilots click it get to see a little something only buyers of the "EvE Compendium" have. Maybe a Pink POD (Joke but you get the idea. Can't be Gold as that is already gone out there).

Could be something to spruce up your Captain quarters like a poster of Princess Jamyl in a bikini or Tibus Heth in his Swimming trunks (Hell, Key to the door anyone)?

Limited editions ships. Just like the the frigates that was about for the 10 years of EvE.

And my wild card play is a implant Skill training booster like the CEREBRAL ACCELERATOR but with mad training speed buffs that can be used on any ages toon. If that don't sell. Then nothing well.

So, Is my idea silly or has the CCP Marketing department already got this in hand?

If they would just sell the damn USB rifter separate from the collectors set (among many other ship models) I would be all for it.

That's the idea. More stuff like this would be cool.

Maybe more stuff from the NEX store?
