I hope we find out the truth. This looks rather interesting and I'd love a return update for W-space.

Me too lol

People: "You shouldn't burn bridges." Me: "I don't, I bomb them from orbit."

Good to see back story lore getting a fresh set of eye's.

Project Compass and Atlas stemmed party from the practical need but also by recognising some apparent connections with Euclid and Rene Descartes.

Some of us (though perhaps only me :)) became convinced the latter could provide an insight into worm hole space geometry and perhaps the under lying physics of New Eden. Despite the distance problem it was a success in the former rather than the latter and science is as much about eliminating things as proving them.

I think for some it provided a good hook for exploring the experimental interactive story telling and perhaps might trigger some live events. However it never really came off and it's a little unclear if this was a result of Drop Bears departure (he seemed to encouraged this) or we were simply barking down a blind alley.

--- edit ---

It's worth looking at Atlas Mythology, which I think was chosen very deliberately by Faulx. Arek Jaalan seems very like the Labours of Hercules

I firmly believe the random entry and exit worm holes is an allusion to the Labyrinth and that Anoikis is as much a hiding place as anything else.

I appreciate everyone who posted in their efforts to find out more about Wormholes and keep this thread alive. It is my hope that through our combined interest in that part of the lore that we can elicit a direct response by Devs either through this thread or by other means. Any further information or links to other items of interest would be of great use and so I encourage anyone to post with their opinions, theories and information concerning Sleepers and the Wormhole Storyline.

Furthermore, there is a thread in the Wormhole board labeled 'What is wrong with wormhole space?' started by a CSM member in SSC in which you can post and make your voice heard about things you think need to be changed. The vast majority of posters are gameplay driven requests, however I have ventured to make a couple of posts concerning the story side of things. If canon is a significant content driver for you I highly recommend posting and supporting lore updates for Wormholes.

Hiding in plain sight.. Blink If CCP would concentrate some effort into hashing out the backstory, they might get my subscription money back.. lol

As it is, I am having a BLAST in Dust 514.. Ever wonder why we can create wormholes between an MCC and a planet, but, can't figure out how to open them between points in space? Or maybe we can.. Twisted

Quote:
The Drop Uplink is a slave transponder, a short range tether that produces the precise spatial coordinates necessary to generate a localized wormhole, traversal of which allows the user to travel over short distances instantly. Highly experimental, the process is excruciatingly painful and exposes organic tissue to excessive radiation, resulting in accelerated cellular decay and, ultimately, death.

Trollolol....

It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then, and it's a poor sort of memory that only works backward.

Just a small update with a little extra information and speculation.

Certain threads such as this one, this one and this one all seem to imply trend changes in the lore. This is much like what Rhavas mentioned in his blog post that I referred to earlier.

Unfortunately for us it seems to be that the Sleepers and the other ancient races, and by extension Wormholes themselves have been left behind in lieu of greener pastures so to speak with other more concrete entities in known space.

It is unfortunate to see that this sort of status quo is maintained, seeing as all of the great questions brought up by the Sleeper lore as well as other things such as the Huttaken Incident seemed to imply that everything was not so cut and dry as it was made out to be at first glance. Numerous topics are brought up such as the legitimacy and power of CONCORD, what Sansha's Nation is really about, Jove space and more.

To be honest, I never expected lore to really take a front seat in EVE and I'm sure many people who care about it like it that way anyway. Insofar, the rather lukewarm response on this topic in the first place seems to be indicative of jaded lore seekers who have insulated themselves from disappointment. Or one could compare today's in-character threads to those of a few years past and make their own judgement. Either way, for the reasons stated above and the lack of CCP response, this topic has left me to believe that this is something the Devs wish either had not come about or that it has been deemed untenable or incompatible with their current view of the lore.

Again as always, any more comments or critiques are encouraged as well as any future CCP input.
