Hi. My question is this: Where and how? Any station within 15 to even 30 jumps of my base of operations has a wait time of 30 to 40 days to even begin my research. I'm a relatively new player (6 months) and I do not own or operate my own POS for fear of paying more then what I'll get out of it.

Any suggestions?

Those are your only options for ME. Train production efficiency to 5.

Lowsec stations? More remote regions?

Alternately buy BPCs while you're waiting or buy pre-researched BPOs off contract.

I haven't established a POS and just accept a 15-18 day wait time on ME jobs and a 1.25-7 day wait time on blueprint copying jobs. With copying I keep my eyes on nine different lowsec (or highsec island) systems that have reasonable numbers of slots and that can be reached safely, then move the relevant BPOs around each time.

At the very least, a (lowsec) system that's 12j from where I call home is almost always available for copying within 3 days, as it is next to a notoriously deadly system which keeps a lot of people away from it. That's my place of last resort, and it generally has the lowest ME wait time in the region too.

Very few pirates can threaten a Venture (carrying blueprints) that avoids any system where there have been two or more player ship losses in the last hour. Of course you are never totally safe; never carry BPOs you cannot afford to lose.

You can also join an alliance which has research POS in high-sec and use theirs.
