Can't get a midcourse bookmark

I can't seem to make a mid-course bookmark. When I fly between two celestials and press "Add Location" I always end up with a BM near one of the two warp points. How can I get it in the middle?

The bookmark is created when you press ok/confirm (can't remember what it says) on the pop up box. Not when you press the add location button in people and places.

if i want something like this i go to the map in solar system view. This allows you to see your position as you warp through the system. Click save bookmark when you are at the desired location.

The BM will not always be exactly where you clicked, but it should be close enough.

Sometimes a dead center midpoint bookmark is hard to get. First thing to know is that the bm is not saved until you press submit. Also you have to deal with things like server ticks and lag. So if you have been paying attention you will notice that in warp your distance closes in big chunks sometimes and not a steady pace. All in all timing is important and try try again till you get it right. I might be doing it wrong but sometimes I will have for mid points saved before I get an actual dead center.

it can be fiddly at the best of times but what you describe is a classic not-great-bandwidth (or ping time) problem. When this is happening you have to home in on the point you want little by little.
After a while you get used to it and work out where in the warp sequence you need to hit that button ... but even then you often have to make several warps to get the approximate spot.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

And points to Archibald for being the only person in this thread to understand the actual problem OP had.

You can click 'Add location' even before you initiate warp. Pressing 'OK/save/whateveritsays' at the right time after renaming your bookmark is what matters.

Train more reading comprehension. Almost everyone in this thread has said the same thing.

Don't worry nja, when people don't have much actual experience themselves they often focus on one small part of a problem and aren't able to see what others are offering. That, compounded with a need to have their opinion heard, often leads to this sort of comment.

Guilty your honour!

Problem was me not reading the posts at all. Just a quick look at them trying to pick the important parts. I'd downvote myself if I could.

As soon as you enter the warp tunnel, make multiple bookmarks. Then go back and check them by looking at the solar system map.

I find that bookmarks made early tend to be closer to mid-point.

Quickly spamming names like aaaaaaaaaaa bbbbbbbbbbb ccccccccc ... works to distinguish them. You should be able to make about 6 bookmarks in early warp, of which 1-3 will be decent.
