First...in case you don't know yet....I am super new. But I have been studying and reading all eve related things that I can find. I love this game and I want to be a contributing member both in game and out of game via politicking and pvp'ing and all other ways...............BUT THATS NOT MY QUESTION.

This is..............I keep reading things about "FC" this and "FC" that. What does "FC" stand for? Here it is used in a sentence...

"TEST – while still having the largest membership and only a week away from the record-breaking 6VDT numbers – barely have any FC left"

This was lifted straight from an article and in no way reflects my views on TEST....I just want to make sure that is clear. am just reading an article on Evenews24 and I saw the initials "FC" again.

So what does it mean?

Fleets are organized thusly: Squads of 10 people led by a Squad Commander (SC). Five Squads are called a Wing led by a Wing Commander (WC). Five wings are a Fleet led by a Fleet Commander (FC) for a total of 256 people maximum.

Of course that many people is not a requirement, it can be less and the Fleet Leader need not be in the Fleet Commander position, often a Wing Commander can be an "FC" as well.

To clarify a bit, in most corporations the Fleet Commanders aren't just the people running the fleet at the moment (and they may not even be the fleet boss/booster). They're typically something like Raid officers in other MMOs, responsible for keeping a regular list of volunteers and scheduling and organizing the regular formation.

So you can think of the FC as a corporate officer in charge of a certain set of activities involving the use of fleets, that might clear up some of the ambiguity

EDIT: And yes, I agree with Torr's "masochist" comment. Taking responsibility for MMO players and trying to organize them is the official cat-herding of internet hobbies.

sweet. now I know.

and knowing is half the battle.

I am curious as to this as well..............I know all about the sov map. But I also keep reading about the various "super alliances" I guess is a good word for them. Like CFC, NCDOT, Dinner Squadron, etc. Is there like a map or a list or something that tells what and where they are? I know CFC is Goon and their allies I know that Initiative just left Dinner Squadron. What I DONT know is who all is in the CFC, Dinner, NCDOT etc.

I'm fairly new to this game myself (a little over 2 months now).

The best match I know about for a site that gives information about alliances, what corps are in each alliance, and where they are based, is DOTLAN. I don't know how quickly the information on DOTLAN updates as corps join/leave alliances or systems change hands.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/alliances

Click on an alliance from that list and you'll get a new page that has links to show who the corps are in the alliance, a map of the systems they control, and more.

And for one big constantly-updated overview of sov influence in the null universe:
