I didn't say I wasn't telling whether we were hitting Caldari Ice, I just said I wasn't telling whether we were only hitting Caldari ice.

*shrug* i only have caldari ice so my personal interests are satisfied.

now, off to spend all this isk on things i can lose in a swift and embarrassing fashion.

This is goons way of selling out their position. Artificially raise prices(by ganking miners) then sell into the buying.
They will follow it up by doing to same to other isotopes in time.

Meh, with or without goons, topes are going up, its a question of when the stockpiles run out

Agreed, they only need to raise the price of one of the four isotopes as players will adapt and sell caldari to buy the other race fuel. Effectively speeding up the rate of price discovery in a realm with non infinite ice supply.

...where did you get 17k/unit from? Are you talking about fuel blocks?

I don't see how anyone got 'burned very bad'.

With nitrogen at 900/unit blocks cost ~16.8k to make with todays prices if bought from sell orders. 16.2? if you set up buy orders for the components.

Lowest selling caldari block as of this moment is 17.1k in jita.

On the 8th/9th prices neared 1k for nitrogen but even then that represents what an 11% loss if you just bought them to flip?

Beyond that according to the TMC article the attacks on miners aren't even under way yet.

Fuel blocks, as expected, have followed the tope drop over the weekend :) As they followed the tope rise, and went to 19k or so.

Just wait one more week. But yeah you could have probably cashed out once at peak of like 20k(?) and go in again now.

Then again goons could have trolled anyone regarding the Ice, which would indeed be a masterplan but would have a much lesser effect on non-goons in EVE compared to an interdiction and is therefore highly unlikely.

I still think the interdiction is just the tip of the iceberg..

The strains from Odyssey have not kicked in yet, and Goons might just be trying to be very strategic and find ways to fund their new regions fuel demands. I would estimate they could play the markets and get quite a nice profit to stock up for a rather long period..

They don't have to stock up because they are the suppliers in this scenario. That is also the reason why they did not target any other fuel type.

All they have to do is not sell their stuff. The interdiction is just on top to shoot some miners etc.

They (or some other entity with massive purchasing power) are definitely investing heavily in destroyers, so I doubt it is a bluff. Build profit on Catalyst hulls, while not great on an ISK per manufacturing slot hour metric, is very high compared to historical levels.

That said, it is entirely possible they intend to do something else with the destroyers, like a Gallente Ice Interdiction or just to announce a new Hulkageddon and sell them all off.
