In real life markets, you buy when there is blood in the streets. In EVE that is the best time to sell. Big smile

Good thing I have stockpiled enough nitrogen isotopes to last my POS 4 years, and I was only a casual miner that started saving up when the ice belt change was first announced.

I suspect that most real miners have enough Caldari ice materials hoarded to meet everybody's needs for a long, long time. It's not like there was any kind of a limit on how much could be mined or stored in station before now.

Its not so much with the current stockpiles you haev now. Its preventing any more from reaching the market.

Considering the cfc controls something insane like 70% of the caldari ice in low and null sec yes you should have seen this coming.

Some people have been stocking up since before the ice belt nerf with nitro topse were 350isk/unit.

Right now before the shooting has truly started we are up to 1k isk/unit.

Go ahead and liquidate your stock piles. I am sure we will put them to good use.

surely a better choice would be a thrasher with emp ammo?

i ask that because i'm too lazy to eft any fits.

I'll have to check it when I get home. I do remember that EMP ammo has a lot of kinetic damage mixed into it, which is a downer. I also know that the high damage lazer crystals have a lot of heat damage mixed in, so that is a downer too. Either way, neither is a problem that isn't solved by throwing more bodies at the problem.

not to mention, it's an interdiction not a hulkageddon. ganking isn't the only way to stop a miner mining :)

If your alliance owns NINE Mackinaw BPOs, however, non-violent interdiction is much less profitable than other methods.

There is definitely profit to be had, and I think violent interdiction is much more fun.

The announcement only mentions Caldari, but apparently we'll see Gallente ice targeted too.

No, EMP only has 1 point of kinetic. The breakdown is:

9 EMP damage
2 Explosive damage
1 Kinetic damage

So yes, it should do more damage than lasers because the thermal resist would be stacked against Catties.

Multifrequency is
7 EM
5 Thermal

...for comparison, so you get higher paper DPS with the Coercer but if (that's a big if) the miners properly stack their defenses to counter a Catalyst gank then the EMP S Thrasher will do more actual DPS.

Disclaimer: I did not run the resist scenarios through EFT against various damage profiles, rather I used the simple logic that 11 untanked damage + 1 heavily tanked damage > 7 untanked damage + 5 heavily tanked damage. This is not meant to be an absolute, rather an estimate.

High sec ganking has been extensively mathed. Especially in regard to miner ganking. Catalysts are used for a reason. Overheated catalyst guns do more damage before concord arrive than the other destroyers. It isn't just about raw dps or about raw resists but also about how many gun cycles will go off before concord arrives in various levels of security and also whether concord was prepulled elsewhere in the system.
Variation from catalyst will occur for the following reasons.
scout ship scan reveals resist stacking.
Not enough people to carry out the gank thus using cruisers or tornados instead.
Ignorance of the extensive theory and in game testing that shows catalyst to be the best tool for the job.

Meh.. why couldn't they go and interdict gallente ice again.. I'm sitting on 15M units of the stuff.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

i think that's sufficiently covered by the fact that they live in caldari space, and most of the ice on the market in jita is also caldari ice. oh, and they don't care how much gallente ice you have :D

this ice interdiction is looking more like a marketing ploy. Shocked

caldari ice system coming up for rent, any takers??
