So, what do you all do when outside the pod?

You know, there are some excellent capsule hangover remedies down in the Kindgom. I usually start with one of those. Pax root, fruit juice, and a shot of whiskey... or blackrock crumble, mint, and a shot of whiskey. Of course, you can leave out the crumble and mint and still be well on your way...

One time I caught wind that my Itty IV's loadmaster and some of the crew had been distilling their own whiskey down in one of the cargo bays as a sideline, and had been selling their hooch at the poteque pharma station at Attyn (where we were staging out of at the time) and Arnon...

Jeez, was that stuff powerful, you could fuel drones with it. I think they ended up calling it 'Drone Juice' or something like that.

Being a responsible captain, I told them to stop brewing their hooch on my ships and sell off the sizeable stockpile (except for 'personal medicational purposes') that they had rented out a small warehouse area on the station for.

For a cut, of course.

I still have some of the stuff, for 'personal medicational purposes' Pirate

Typically, I spend more time outside of the capsule than in it.

When I am not helping handle business/political work, I'm often helping out around the house keeping things running smoothly.

As for free time... a number of things. I enjoy playing music, and do a lot of reading in our library. I enjoy getting some exercise where I can as well - whether it's dancing, swimming, or, ah, other forms.

Though, regardless of what it is I end up doing, I'd say it's best when done in the company of people important and close to me.

I polish my collection of jackboots to a pristine shine, often with the assistance of vodka.

I fill in requisite forms in triplicate hardcopy with my black Kaalakiota issue Z3-FN form-filling pen, often with the assistance of scotch.

I conduct internal corporate audits with my red Kaalakiota issue Z2-FN (Corporate Commissar Issue) audit marking pen, often with the assistance of bourbon.

I perform patriotic data-entry into glorious corporate spreadsheets, often with the assistance of a warm brandy.

I decide what uniform I will wear the next day, often with the assistance of a gin and tonic.

I dictate internal memorandums to my Executive Staff, often with the assistance of an appletini.

Those tasks complete I then permit myself a moment of relaxation, usually with some smooth Caldari jazz.

Just your typical Executive lifestyle, really.

I have a friend who owns a Z3FN. He quite likes it - it was given to him as a gift during logistical negotiations with KK many years ago. He says that one cannot get a truer line than one made with that pen.

I'm not sure if the scotch helps that process, though. Maybe that's how it works.

The art of properly filling in forms with an Z3-FN issue pen while having a scotch-on-the-rocks in hand is an ancient Kaalakiota tradition, passed down from generation to generation, that takes many years and countless hours of practice until one is considered a true master of the proper forms.

Meanwhile, I prefer the grand old tradition of paying somebody else to handle my paperwork for me, leaving both hands free for scotch and a cigar.

I find paperwork and bureaucratic administration, pleasantly calming and therapeutic. Truly there do exist small pleasures in the life, and the smell of ink on carbon copies as one fills in a perfect administrative requisition form including all relevant sub-forms is certainly one of them.

I thank my ancestors everyday for deciding that hardcopies are always required to be properly filed even if administrative actions are conducted digitally.

Why there's a stack of forms to be filled on my desk right now, and I admit to a tremble of earnest excitement at the prospect of deploying my trusty Z3-FN in virtuous pen-on-form action!

to each their own. I derive my calming and therapeutic small pleasures from working with my hands too, albeit with metal and crystal as my medium, rather than paper and ink.

I assure you, filling in forms are not the only small and therapeutic pleasures I am able to derive with the use of my hands.

Let's see, I own one venue ((L'Amore In Ballo)) and I help a a friend manage another (The Broken Piano). I have a boyfriend and three children, a girl and twin boys. I also play the piano and sing.

Stealing sweets from infants, if the stories I have heard about me are true.

Other then that I am probably unwinding in one of my two heavenly hideaways. Or possibly spending an afternoon with my corp mates or some senior crew members from some of my harder worked ships.

Though leisure time is the exception. Most hours are inside the capsule.

I write academic articles and philosophical treatises for the University of Caille. I used to teach philosophy and political science there, and lately they've been asking me to become more involved in their capsuleer program, which I'm seriously considering. When I'm not doing that, I exercise. I know my body could die at any moment, but if someone hostile ever comes through that despicable door I'll be ready.

As I've said before, I haven't been a capsuleer for long , but when I'm not in the pod, I like to go fishing and write. fishing is rather relaxing and it's a good way for me to learn patience, something I know I'll need as an immortal capsuleer with all the time in the world available. Writing on the other hand is a hobby of mine I've had for some time and I enjoy it. I also plan on getting to know my crew when the time comes. While I know that they will be eventually be replaced when the ship gets destroyed, I want to at least try to keep my humanity. I've seen a few capsuleers who've lost that part of themselves. It's rather unnerving for me, but this stuff tends to happen.

Mostly managing business, the various trade, insurance and acquisition contracts. The usual boring stuff, of course.
However, one has to have an hour or two to relax and enjoy the fruits of one's labour; this is where the social events, festivities and bacchanalia come in.

Drinking and dancing are two of my favorite ways to relax. I also use dance as a form of exercise daily, something I held onto after I quit being an exotic dancer when my daughter was born, though I've considered getting back into the business on a part-time basis when I'm not in pod.

When back on Matar, I assist my mother with her leadership role in the clan.

I like too end my journeys at Theology council stations. I find it quite easy too relax in the sanctuary gardens aboard those stations. It is also fun to talk about god with the priests that are there.

The days my husband manages to do the same are quite special days. I cannot be any happier than on the days I spend with him.

Tourism is an all too infrequent pleasure of mine, when out of the pod. Even in Jita 4-4, where I spend the majority of my time ensuring the smooth running of my corporation, there are plenty of districts and avenues dedicated to cultures from across the breadth of the cluster. However, this is not nearly as good as the real thing, and I attempt to spend at least a few hours, possibly more, exploring the station-side lifestyles of every port in which I have business interests. The benefit of local employees, is local tour guides on the payroll, and they seem to enjoy a capsuleer taking an interest in how they live their lives (mistakenly believing that aside from the wealth and immunity to death by misadventure, we're different at all - but gaudy holoreels and news reports are the bane of seeing eye to eye on such matters).

The apex of my exploratory past time is participating in archaeological digs, though in primarily an observational or philanthropic capacity. My time in wormhole space on the extremes of that profession, though via the rather uninspiring interface of an analyser module, has fed my passion for cultural discoveries. Unlike my prior exploits, these are not for profit and are usually in the interests of developing local tourism interests or merely uncovering a dark age settlement of note, charting the development of the locals, where such have existed for millenia, or even filling in the blanks of early stage post-space-age colonies that have suffered civil breakdown or poor administration in the past.

More frequently than either of these, is the tendency to socialise with like minded capsuleers. Shared experience and a comparatively long-time in the pod have gifted me with many friends, many of whom I just do not get to speak to frequently enough. As a result, I endeavor to stay in touch with my former comrades, investors, employers and allies, and when possible, make arrangements to share a few stories or discuss the current state of affairs over the culture's finest dining options.

On a personal level, I still observe Ida, though some would say not rigorously enough. So solitary reflection is another past time that accounts for a fraction of my out of pod time, though I frequently find the meditation undertaken when still connected, but berthed and not needing to pay attention to a ship's functions, provides a deeper experience than the old methods I would have employed prior to my capsuleer status, making it debatable if this can be considered an out of pod activity.

So there you have it, essentially a breakdown of my activities, such as they are.
