Dual character training or separate account?

I'm trying to weigh the differences between the two.

Both require PLEXes for a duration of 30 days. Essentially it is the same as a new account, however with a separate account, I see the following benefits:

  • An extra 21 days for the price of your initial PLEX due to buddy invite.
  • Your buddy essentially is free for 51 days since you get the PLEX back to your main account.
  • Able to dual client and be in space at the same time.
  • Lower risk of account compromise should one be hacked.

If there's something I didn't realise, please enlighten me.

The way I see it, if you're creating an alt, you had the intention of doing things together anyway.

My question is whether I should do which?

Duel account!

Light your own cyno
Rep your own ship
Boost your own ship
Fly two directions at once
Do 2 careers at once (isk stream)
Share missions
No need to log one out to activate the other

Duel training is a really cool new feature, but it has limitations. Same cost, less useable
Dual accounts has no limitations

If you plan on paying for/PLEXing two accounts long-term, then you might as well just do two accounts. The dual training is mostly for people who want to give some basic skills to a PI/industry/research/market/etc. alt without stopping their main's training or paying 2 PLEX to transfer from a temporary second account.

This. If you just need a small amount of training for an alt for a specific purpose and dont need them both on at the same time then dual training.

2 accounts so you can multibox them and harvest twice as many tears.

Throw ISBoxer in the mix and it will be glorious.

Two accounts, no contest. Am I the only who feel they are being shafted if they took the dual training deal? Come on CCP. One plex for a few months dual training I could live with. Most people at least get bought a drink before the get f^$^&ed

If all you want is some basic PI/market skills for another slot on your main account that's only ever going to log in for housekeeping stuff, it's a deal. Before, your only alternatives were to either stop your main's training for a while or pay a PLEX to train on another account and then two more to transfer it over.

It's way cheaper than transfering an existing alt to a new account, training two months and transferring the alt back.
