Gate Guns?

I'm not sure which topic to post this in, so I decided on here as Crime and Punishment doesn't seems to be visited as often as I'd like.

Earlier on tonight we tried engaging someone on a gate in lowsec, and the gate guns targeted, killed and swapped targets in about 2 seconds. The ship they killed was a Condor, moving at max traversal at 2500m/s, with a sig radius less than 300. Whenever I have been jumping through lowsec, gate guns would always miss frigates or anything that tackled me, or just not do enough damage to Falcons etc to kill them, yet they tracked a Condor at full traverse and 1 hit? I'm calling some untold bullshit on their tracking getting buffed.

This isn't a 'I LOST A SHIP OMGWTF' thread, I'm just confused as to how the hell a 1400mm Howitzer tracked a Frigate moving max traverse.

My first response is god hates you.

My second response is that a 2nd gate gun that you did not notice had a good bead on you and you only thought it was the gun that you had transversal on that killed you.

If you are engaging neutrals on lowsec gates in a frigate one of these three things must be true:

- You are prelocked by a logistics ship before you open fire
- You are already aligned out and just ninjing onto the KM before you warp
- You are genuinely terrible at this game and should be ashamed of yourself

There are 4 gate guns positioned around each and every star gate in lowsec. They form a diamond formation. 1 at the top and bottom, then 1 at the relative left and right. You may have excellent transversal against 1 gun, but the other 3 will be tracking you just fine.

There are 2 gate guns on low sec gates. They don't miss, and they deal a straight 300 dps regardless of your resists etc. 150km range.

Don't fire on neuts near a gate in a frigate.
