CCP will have bought Linden Labs with misguided faux dreams that envision Eve being a bit like Entropia Universe, TiDi in stations will end up being a groundbreaking feature according to the marketing dept. and NVidia will render half of eve's lighting and texturing remotely in the cloud. The latter rendering feature will only apply to you if you have a suitable fiber internet connection.

Meanwhile in space, a 64 bit client that's multiprocessor aware and features a low-quality settings option for 4k textures.

IF EVE is still kicking in 10 years it most likely won't be a pretty sight.

CCP is a company and companies make money. DUST being a failure and world of darkness most likely being another, CCP is going to have to take all the money they can from their good old EVE subscribers.
This means more meaningless, useless extra content (hats, tattoos and paint) for PLEX a.k.a more microtransactions.

-EVE will be used as a training tool for the CIA, KGB, MI-6, Mossad, etc.
-Vladimir Putin will admit that he's CEO of a giant nullsec alliance.
-Potential employers will ask for your API key, in addition to your Facebook account info.
-Goons will be just a faint memory from the past. They became extinct after collapsing internally due to boredom. They were the last ever blob to ever rule 100% of nullsec. In the post-Goon era, new SOV rules mechanics make conquest through sheer numbers impracticable.
-EVE will be playable in Virtual Reality, using glasses and something like a WII Fit board. Somebody will try to market a big plastic pod EVE gaming station.
-DUST players will be able to shoot down orbital bombardment ships. And bypass defenses against ships to storm POSes and other player-owned stuff.
-It will be possible to buy EVE Online t-shirts, baseball caps, coffee mugs and car magnets.

All mining will be done in null and low. High sec mining will cease.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

I think this is the most likey scenario.
The attempt to release "World of Darkness" causes CCP to hemorrage cash. CCP takes out loans, and begins gouging, in earnest, its EVE Online players.
"Elite Dangerous" and "Star Citizen" are released, and EVE Online subscriptions plummet. CCP can't recoup its loses and is forced to file for Bankruptcy.

Walt Disney buys the rights to "EVE Online" and makes a series of blockbuster films.

Don't ask me to post with my main! You post with your main first!

In 10 years, EVE will be a legacy game maintained by CCP on a downsized Tranquilty server which will be the equivalent to present time's Singularity. A small but fanatical crowd will still populate it and once a year they will assemble a big fight of 1,000 players to remember the good old days.

And when they fail to meet their goal, I will log in and say: "you should had backuped avatar gameplay while you could, a-holes!" Twisted

This is the worst case scenario and by all means a possibility. Whether a lot of players like it or not, a bigger push on something to do with your actual avatar would attract a larger player base, and ultimately increase the longevity of this game.

I don't think it will come to that in 10 years though. I could be wrong, if somehow an awesome spaceship type sandbox game comes out within that time period.

It could be a sandbox submarine simulator.

"Warp" would be ultra-cavitation impulse
"Stargates" would be the entry to void maglev tubes, within which ships would travel at hypersonic speeds between established stations.

Cities would be buried udner the sea bottom to resist any pressures. The setting would be a water planet by a cold star and whose native lifeforms are primitive and gigantic in the surface and smaller in the depths. Firm land would be scarce and most farming would occur on floating rafts. There would be three space elevators, many floatign cities, a few flying cities and a few orbital cities. The planet would be key to a bigger political scene and dwellers would be split between natives of several factions, colonists and agents of foreign powers.

Development would struggle to keep the game simple and fun, but also extremely flexible and full of possibilities and replayability. Rather than pile a crapton of barely usable stuff between low tier and top tier, technology would be evolved to a few items in each cathegory. Different factions would achieve similar, balanced performance (DPS/Tank) through different means.

And a few things more...

Having ideas, it's easy.

And yet CCP displays an unusual inability to get things right, let alone have ideas. It may be the 6-months winter...

You won't be able to fly through stations, moons or planets anymore. So there will be ridiculous/hilarious pvp scenes of ships chasing each other around back and forth around celestials. Like Inspector Clouseau and Kato (from 2:00).

Broken core game mechanics

....pretty much same as now.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

I predict that we will have about 55-65 new threads asking "What will EvE be like in the next ## years?"

We seem to get one every two months or so.

EvE will lose it's job due to downsizing and have to live on government welfare for over 6 months, the fact of which slowly drives EvE into a deep depression. EvE begins to make poor decisions, one of which was falling in love with a young call girl who was owned by a pimp named slim d, and as a result of his affection for her, got hooked on her favorite vice: children's cough syrup. Later, EvE would find itself on the run from slim d with his stolen property, begging, borrowing and stealing what it can to get its fix, but eventually EvE runs out of time. On Aug 8, 2023,EvE is found in a back alley, clutching an empty bottle of children's chewable tylenol, cherry flavored.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.
