Never trust anyone

Words too live by in eve online. Words I did not take into account two days ago. The TL:DR of the story is I want too buy something from a guy, we decide too do a 50/50 deal since it was a small amount of isk, guy gets half, then bolts.

I say too my self "well crap, should have saw this coming". So the next day I did something that I should have done the first day I met the guy. check previous forum posts and such. Oh too my surprise, he had over 20 posts in buying and selling characters.

I decide too follow the trail of posts in the VERY off chance he accidently bought a character with his main. as too be expected, no dice. However i didnt stop, I kept searching, writing down names, connecting dots, following his buy and sell orders for each character he has ever owned that is connected too this one account.

After 13 hours I counted over 139 characters that I can say for 100% belonged too him at one point or another.

At the end of this investigation I am still in the same spot were I was, and a little more wary of the characters around me, thinking that any one of them could be the guy who scammed me, ready too strike again.

Anticlimactic for me too and I lived the damn thing. Here I thought I was going too uncover some big conspiracy that all scammers in new eden were just one guy that can multi box like a champ OR find out that on the side of erotica1's legit isk doubling business she scams with a bunch of alts.

No way that last one is true, Erotica would never scam any one.

Pass the tin foil over here. Here I am just perusing GD and someone randomly mentions me lol

It's true though, I do not scam. I make way more than the scammers by taking an old scam and making a legit game out of it.

Be nice. So many people are so mean and nasty in this game. You know, there are people who want to help others here.

Yet people still think that allowing name changes is also a good idea in Eve. Shocked

Anyway, grats on the detective work. Not many people would have bothered.

Oh man...

That's not a waste when you learn something about how things can and do work in EVE. It's like saying a market player is wasting their time studying up on how EVE's market works.

Odds are good this guy figured out a hell of a lot of little short cuts on how and what to check on as he went through this process - that kind of info & the techniques he learned probably has good longer-term value for him.

8 hours of work (Today NOTHING happened so it was like free time) and this being my "weekend" yes i had a whole 13 hours too put too this. I stopped at 13 though do to the strong urge too run too my kitchen and frantically wrap my head in tinfoil.

That is when I knew I was taking it a bit far.
