I just did a fresh install with the offline installer onto my system.

Core I7, 8 gig RAM, nvidia gtx 660

Arch Linux up to date, 64 bit with 32 bit multilibs.
Wine 1.7
Nvidia drivers 319.32
Gnome 3.8 desktop

The game is running smooth as silk. I didn't have to do a single hacky thing to make it work. Just installed and played. Both fullscreen and window mode are working, all high settings and medium AA, 1920x1080.

I am pretty shocked, this is the best I have ever seen it run in Linux. You can get the graphics card for 200 USD if you look around. And of course Arch is free!

Skeptically optimistic! So far so good.

I have a similar setup and I have to admit I was astonished yesterday to find out EVE is even running faster then on Windows 7. Especially with the cache dir mounted as tmpfs, the interface has never been so snappy. I have yet to see how it holds in big fleet fights tho.

In large fleets where there is lots of tidi going through gates the fleets get held up by other players disconnecting (getting stuck in long jump tunnels). I assume they are windows users. Disconnects for me are few and far between.

Totally unscientific study though.

I have a fruit cup and I'm not afraid to use it.

you talking about ramdisk with /tmp or some other cache dir?
