PI Question

I am running 4 planets, making about 1000 coolant, 400 industrial explosives, and 200 smartfab units per week.

I am considering refitting these planets to produce nano-factories, and was wondering if this would be a worthwhile investment, or if I should stick with what I'm doing.

Command center upgrades is only 4, and can't do another planet right now due to logistical concerns.

Can you reliably get the inputs every day to keep the factory planet running? (Generally, this means you have to be very near a trade hub.)

Can you obtain the inputs cheap enough on a regular basis in order to make them for less then what you'll be selling them for (including tariffs). Which means you'll need to purchase at least a few days in advance in order to take care of cheap sell orders or put up ISK for cheaper buy orders.

I am currently doing ninja PI in somebody else's wormhole. I have 2 planets making explosives from scratch, one doing coolant, and one doing smartfab units, also from scratch.

So market trips aren't ever on my agenda except for when the hold on my cloak mammoth gets full.

So the questions might then be:

Would making XYZ reduce the number of trips you make in/out of the w-space pocket due to volume reduction?

Do your raw material planets produce enough product to keep a factory planet more then half-busy?

It's not so much an issue of volume, as I don't end up needing to make trips out that often. What I'm really wondering is if I would make more money.

I have excellent hotspots on my planets, so I feel I can keep the factories stocked. But I'm new at this so could be wrong.

Can you get all of the R0 on your own? If so, then I'd say go for it. The more you process the stuff, the higher the price per volume on your cargo. That means fewer times you have to leave your wormhole.

Looking at the nano-factories chart, it shouldn't be hard to make with four planets. Dedicate each of the four planets to its own P2. Have one of them also getting the reactive metals, and another one will also double as your factory planet. Pick your planets so that the P1s never have to leave the planet, i.e. make the fertilizer on either a temperate or oceanic world with the R0s being harvested on that world. Every few days, haul all your P2s to your factory world.

Seems doable, and it would be worth your while, provided you have access to all of the types of planets needed.

extracting planets I think should focus on p2. Its compact and can all be done on one planet. Less work, just produce and then pickup at star port. It can run for weeks without filling up.

Other reaction steps are only efficient if you near a super trade hub. Would you want to waste a planet that could be making so much p2's over a week.

Once the Concord Customs Offices go offline (late Nov-Dec), you're not going to be able to import materials to your factory planet unless you can cut a deal with your hosts.

You'll still be able to export via CC launches without their permission, but bulky products and anything requiring imports is going to be a problem.

Just to point out something you may of missed. or just glanced over. With the new POCO going live, there will be a 5x boost in all transit capacity. This will make the shooting off materials less of a burden unless your just producing a truly monstrous amount of materials (or just doing it once every 4-7 days). This is due to the lower CD time between launces (unless I'm miss reading something.

Everything else is correct however.
