The change isn't intended to save all drones but to decrease the number of annoying drone losses. It sort of makes sense that machines as complex as these would have sufficient AI to attempt to stick with their master Smile

Could this behavior be extended to any time the user warps off? Hundreds of forgotten drones would thank you!

I'll keep ears to the ground for news on the viability of something like that....I would like that feature and I'm sure many others would too.

Fantastic, thank you :)

Any chance sentry drones will stop clearing their aggro or command list and picking their own targets too?

CCP Masterplan is currently fixing this issue with the drone AI :)

Interesting...

I'm very curious to see if it works as worded, or the drones just magically reappear in your drone bay.

If your ship does not warp until the drones fly back, I see many issues:

1) If the drones must cover large distances, your ship will not warp for a long time.
2) To tackle a logoffski pilot, simply tackle his drones and prevent them from returning.
3) A ship with sentry drones out will never warp if he's not in scoop range.

Does it apply to fighters and fighter bombers? Tackling and killing those is a fun way to punish docking ring hot droppers for thinking they're pro. If all they have to do is logoffski to get them back magically, that would suck, and if it prevents them from e-warping when they do log off, it would suck for them.

While I'm a heavy drone user and would prefer not to see my precious little ******** DPS machines get lost, I'd much rather lose them than my ship and think this change leaves a lot of questions to answer.

Even the Devs double-post. Fix the forums, CCP.

If drones are sufficiently complex AI to attempt to return to a ship before it e-warps, shouldn't they also be sufficiently complex for pilots to reconnect to them if the connection between ship and drone is lost?

Drones have complex AIs, yet you cannot reconnect to them.
Probes are just probes, yet you can reconnect to them.

I'm pretty sure this expansion will improve on eve more than the past 2 years have. Bravo.

DUST is main thing for next year... DUST comes out in summer... so expect all expansion small and PI oriented...

Well PI is going to need some massive improvements to be interesting enough to warrant fighting over it.

While I'm sure CCP is doing everything they can to make this expansion a vast improvement, I can't help but wonder if they're secretly planning a massive troll once the expansion is released. Pirate

ok, while this is great for unintended DCs why should a successful logoffski get drones back?

this should at least include a check for a user initiated DC or a dropped client at the bare minimum.

sure it could be gamed, brother logoffski could just disconnect the network cable or unplug the router, but at least someone who ctl-Qs shouldn't get a free pass

ive done some testing on this on tranq, so long as ur drones begin the return to your drone bay, & dont make it back before you warp off, when u relog, drones in distant space will still be controllable when you land, to local space.

That also work if they start returning & u warp off, but so long as you dont jump or dock up, you can return to drones to control them.

I think there is a range limit, 100km or 250km, i cant quite remember. Not Returning your drones, & you log off/d/c/warp off, then you will have to slowboat to them & scoop them up.

So this change is much needed. Too bad a tractor beam couldnt be used on idle drones. that would of helped too.

Fixed to finish the obvious direction this had to be going in.

We'll change the dynamite into Dedication if they hang on for two expansion like this. By then the LUCID development plan name will be warranted.
