Ive been playing EVE on my new computer for a few months, and have never dropped below 40fps, even while rendering. However its now dropped to about 10 or 12, regardless of the settings I use.

Im running 4 gb of 1866 ram
3.4ghz quad core
dual Radeon HD6850's

not the worlds best system, not the worst, but it should be doing better than this, any help would be appreciated.

On further inspection, my graphics card, and my cpu, aren't running at capacity, eve is struggling, yet my gpu is at 28% and none of cpu cores are above 50%

bump

I'm experiencing the same basic symptoms on my rig. AMD 7850 2GB, 12 GB 1600 RAM, AMD Athlon II Dual Core 2.8. Even My crappy old CPU doesn't max out running EVE. GPU isn't even breaking a sweat, but lag and clipping, especially when opening windows. Settings tinkering changes nothing.

Edit: Strangely, this began happening after changing from my old GTS 250 1GB to the current card. The GTS, though vastly inferior to this card, ran this particular game better, even when it was overheating (Thermal paste deteriorated)!

Are you running dual monitors, by chance? When I have both monitors activated I get ~30-40 FPS and rapid stuttering. If I disable my second monitor in my display settings my frame-rate jumps up to a stable 60.

I get this same problem. My resources are barely touched by the EVE client (~8% GPU and ~8% CPU utilization per client on highest settings, ~10% GPU memory usage per-client, and more than 12 gigs of system RAM free).

CPU: Intel 2500K
Video card: AMD 6950 2GB GDDR5

Another strange thing I noticed: if I launch Google Chrome my frame-rate jumps up to a solid 60 regardless of having the second monitor active. I still see 60fps if I minimize Chrome, move it to another monitor, whatever--but if I close it I drop back to ~35fps and get rapid stuttering.

I've disabled Aero desktop features, disabled all visual effects in windows, and set EVE to the lowest possible settings. I get the same stutter on highest settings with four clients open as I get with one client open on lowest settings.

I'm running a clean install (~2 weeks old) of Windows 7 64-bit, and all drivers are updated to the most recent stable release.
