Level 3 Missions Ships (Gallente)

As the title suggests, I have recently got the Rep for level 3 missions. I'm looking for and up to date ship and fit for level 3 missions.

For the level 2 missions I was running a Vexor with Hobgoblins for drones.

What ship and fit should I be using for Level 3 Gallente Security Missions? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Eh, I'm not entirely sure about L3s but what I normally fly for L2s SHOULD cut it. What you want to do, as an average mission ship, is to get a navy megathron and fit as much bling to it as possible. Missioner's Law states that this makes it invincible.

Any of the Battlecruisers will do fine for L3s. You can do them in cruisers as well but that may reuire higher skills. And dont try the blockade with a Cruiser until you have decent skills.

this^

personally i dont choose gallente hull when spammy missiles are so easy on caldari..

but i have had great results from the brutix. focus on damage output and tracking, as well as some good rails (some say blasters, but then you have to travel and tank more). Fit an afterburner, tracking comp, light tank (2 mission hardners, a repper) and some magstabs. get the friggys FIRST, everything else will die soon after.

speed is the key to tanking it in that setup.

myrmidon does NOT need hybrids, you may feel free to use projectiles, since they do not use cap, AND, you can passive shield tank it better than you can armor tank it, so keep that in perspective.

if you can fly t2, then there's simply NOTHING better for lvl 3's than an astarte. navy brutix is a good fill in for the same ship (great bonuses).

... or use a drake.

As a Gallente, you have access to one of the most versatile BCs in the game, and L3s are balance for BCs.

So buy two Myrms, shield-tank one, armour-tank the other, and slap whatever guns and drones and support equipment you need on them to get the job done. The only thing you should probably not fit on it is lasers — EMP projectiles and thermal drones will do the same job without eating all your cap in one bite.

Way back I used to fly a passive shield tanked myrmidon with hammerhead II's for the damage dealers. These days I dunno, I just sit on the bridge of my ship in my rocking chair slurping oatmeal from a rubber spoon. Arrow

If you liked the Vexor - go for the Myrm. With the comming power-up to reps it'll be even more awesome.
Of the top of my head:

Garde II x4

7m caplife MWD off, repper permarunning - that's longer then you should take to clear most L3s
150 DPS AM
561 DPS Ogre/Hammerhead
531 DPS Gardes
156 DPS tank against Angels (never saw the point in giving the tank against what it's strong anyway (Guristas for shield and Blood for armour. Granted - running Angels in an amourship is slightly masochistic though.) Everything else is obviously higher if you switch around to their respective Hardeners.

Needs maximum Electronics (500/500 used), PG isn't tight at all (95% used @all5). Downgrade to skill (probably Meta3 guns which takes pain off the CPU too).

For further info I'd recommend not going to battleclinic. Asking corp or whereever will probably get you a more comprehensible answer with less flame and rage.

If your using a vexor for lvl 2's, then sticking with the same pattern for lvl 3's wouldn't hurt. After all you are looking for a green boat, so here you go ( keep in mind this is a theory craft ship, I haven't tested this fit at all):

Highs:
Small Tractor Beam II x3
Salvager II x2

Med:
Target Painter II
Omnidirectional Tracking Link II
Cap Recharger II x3

Low:
Medium Armor Repairer II x2
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Reactive Armor Hardener
Cap Flux Coil II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

Rig:
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I x2

Drone:
Garde II x8

This fit is cap stable with only your tank and painter running, as things die in the mission site or after you've cleared it, you can then run the tractor beams and salvagers. Youll carry 8 sentry drones but only be able to deploy 4 at a time, so you'll probably want to group four of them for easier drone management, should one get popped, you'll have spares. This fit is similiar to a Rattlesnake fit one of my corpies uses for ratting, although its different. Its completely passive, more or less. All you have to do is make sure the drones are attacking the painted target. Hope this helps, if you choose to use it, let me know how it works.

(This fit was made with all skills set to V)

Like others suggest don't focus on hybrids with the Myrmidon, especially since the standard Dominix also doesn't get hybrid bonus. I spent a good chunk of my first year getting almost all my drone skill up to 5 while using T1 guns.

A Dominix should be an easy transition to level 4 missions. Eventually you can train blasters and rails for Vindicators and Navy Domis which get large hybrid bonuses and are both great for L4 missions.

I wouldn't recommend putting on lasers yeah - to much cap. ACs get about the same damage but terrible range. Artillery is not a whole world better. Tracking with rails is arguably terribad but the drones don't care. The only reason to put weapons in the highs is to break things with annoying tank faster, like rat BCs and those stay away. Anything below random BC shouldn't even need the attention of your on-board weapons - this is NOT a gunboat it's a DRONEboat.

I used to do my rep grinding with a passive shield/arty myrm, level 3s basically couldn't scratch it.

Cool thing with a myrm, you can active armor, shield, or passive shield tank it, turrets are a secondary weapon system, so ACs for anti-frig or arties if you want to be able to blap little drones (and it can).

I haven't tried to fit a myrm in forever, but it can do near anything.

The myrm can also passive tank pretty decently.

pyfa wont export to txt, so here we go

720mm 'scout' artillery I x 5

Adaptive Invulnerability Field II x 2

Large shield Extender II x 3

Beta Reactor Control: Shield Power Relay x 3

Type-d Power core Modification: Diagnostic System x 3

Medium Core Defense Field Purger

Garde I x 4

This fit can probably be better optimized but meh. 199 raw hp/s tank. 531 ehp/s tank.

I know this thread is about Gallente ships, but what about "Prophecy"? It has same drones bonuses, more basic armor and you can fit missiles launchers on it... The price difference is almost 8 milions ISK.

As awesome advice as this is... You left out the best level 3 mission ship... Vindicator. It practically begs for officer mods. Yes it takes a new pilot 6 days 12 hours to learn but what is more awesome than a Vindicator with small rails and light drones?!?!

I don't want to take this thread off topic, but I think you'll get a good quality discussion at BC. Like any forum, if someone over-rages, just report it and myself or a mod will nuke the post. Again, apologies for the short aside.

Hey I know first hand - heck sometimes I even tell people their fits are "not optimal". But for something as basic as a L3-fit you can probably get that of 95% of all high sec inhabitants in no time flat. Heck that Myrm was thrown together in 2 minutes ...

It'd be interessting to know what actually happened to OP though re: fit.

EDIT: I should probably have added a ;) - because intent and mood are not allways deciphrable from text. Oh well...

I started doing L3 at the beginning of the week in a Myrmidon and I love it. Holds up nice, only had trouble with one mission "Cut-throat Competition", had to get some help on that beast. Other than that I am able to knock the missions out pretty quickly and the money is nice :)
