I've read several forum posts about people advising to drop the cloak tengu for a proteus. Is this still a good idea? Has proteus now overtaken the tengu? I have a alt acct. pilot about to pop for a tengu, but now am having second thoughts. Alt is pvp/fw.

I'd stick with the Tengu.

The guys telling you other wise are most likely armor tankers and want you to join them.

cloaky prot can still pull some very nice damage and still have 100K tank. If your in to that stuff.

A tank that will get worn down by a ham tengu orbiting you at round 10km with scram on you.

Because thats relevant.

The Proteus has the raw tank and DPS advantage.

However the Tengu can select damage types and is a little harder to catch, so it really depends if you are going after serpentis ratters or not.

At 10km any decent Proteus pilot who fits a scram (15km T2) and web (15km faction) will put holes on your thin scram orbiting Tengu and make a nice wreck out of it.
Try to orbit at 500m and again a decent Prot pilot will profit to load high dmg ammo, do at least twice Tengu DPS and still kill it.
And prot pilot not only will have the Tank advantage but also the double Tengu dps.

Imho if you want to play that cloaky game vs Prot you are going to regret unless you have a lot of friends landing on grid to save your butt.

Just say'in and friendly advice but do whatever you like. PVP Tengu current setups are cookie cutters but in scram/web range, any neut will wreck it, the only viable ones are still 100mn AB with heavies but easy to counter and rather low dps.

Cloak Tengu with T2 fit (dmg mods) shooting Em best dmg ammo will be doing at best 300dps, Prot 500 with heavy tank setup, with light one will be doing about 700 or +if gimp
