EULA Exploit?

Okay first and foremost, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this kind of a post. There were two places I thought it would be appropriate to post, this being one of them.

So here's where I'm finding an issue and I hope that other capsuleers out there are seeing this as a major issue also. It seems there is a new meta game in the pvp world of EVE. I happen to be one of those pirate scum that goes around killing pretty much anything that moves unless it's blue of course :3. I dont like to say this either that much but most of the people who live in Low Sec any more unless they are actual pirates are pretty much carebears (sorry derogatory word plz dont report me). FW and the amount of these carebears moving into low sec will start crying and carrying on in local about how you just ripped a ship out of their little fingers which usually results in a few cuss words and posting links in local. I'm sure the same stuff goes on out in Null after a huge battle goes on of some sort of propoganda and cussing carrying on etc tis a game it's to be expected. But lets face it, we are all adults here and know that cussing is going to happen.

When people get reported for using language that apparently their minds can't seem to stand which, is respectable IMO. The problem exists in the fact that these same people that report others for cussing or using links that are "offensive" which again some are, the people they report are banned instantly. The kicker here is the fact that these same people that report you for cussing in local or posting offensive pictures do it themselves. Here's where I'm thinking it's becoming a new meta. If a group of people are killing you on a constant basis and you can't seem to muster up a force to attack back and beat a group back why not report them when they post in local after you carried on whining about how you just got destroyed. Now that person is banned instantly and waiting on the verdict of how long they'll be banned for. This is complete and utter crap.

I've put petitions in about this whole thing and despite mentioning that the avg. player base is well over 20 and that bad language in today's world is something they should be accustomed to, I get the same answer. The game is rated T. Now last I checked ESRB which is used all over the world, including PEGI (Euro version) Online play cannot be rated. Not to mention there is a section in the EULA that states if a person is under a certain age they have to get parent consent in order to create an account etc.

So here's the solution. Or what I think a solution to this problem is. Most MMOs out there have a language filter. Maybe CCP should finally invest in putting this into the game that can be turned on and off depending on the players preference. The game is now 10 years old. And solution for the links... again this is an online game... you know people are gonna post some nasty things including pornography. Put a disclaimer in or put something in the EULA that states clicking on links at your own risk.

I think the EULA exploit is the fact that people who cuss themselves or post dirty links themselves report people who kill them on a regular basis just so they get banned. This is an instant process where people get banned until further investigation. I hope that this can get enough support from the community and that the Devs might reconsider fixing this issue. I know I'm getting quite upset as a paying customer that I can't have fun posting links in local because someone might be offended by a little skin showing or a troll picture. Heck most of the time I post stuff like that people are all hostile after being killed... And then once that adrenaline wares off you're laughing in local about how you messed up most of the time.

Anyways done typing this wall of text.

Please keep the responses clean in this post as it's rather important imo.

Got it in one Mr Garibaldi...

You should always use a support ticket to report suspected exploits or EULA violations. Air your dirty laundry here at your own peril.

Read further down. I have put in support tickets etc. I still think it's time to try getting support from the community is all.

O.K. As an official member of the "community" I just invoked my power to compel CCP to do whatever you want.

I accept payment in isk, or small felines in the 1-3kg range.

Even if you have placed a support ticket, this is *still* the wrong place to bring it up.

The correct place to bring such subjects up in the EVE-O fora is... Never.

Well then until some CCP forum admin or Dev comes in here and tells me otherwise the post is staying. You can sit and tell me that support tickets do anything but I tend to disagree. Takes numbers to be heard in this game sadly. Criticize all you want.

Simple solution:

Don't do anything that breaks the EULA. Just because someone else does it, doesn't mean it's allowed.

Maybe report them yourself. Or are you going with the "I'm not a snitch" line.

Woo! CSM XI!

Meta gaming is the way of the real world, where people use the broken system, always ready to arrest, confiscate, and kill, as their personal tool.

Neighbors dog crapped in the yard? Make an anonymous tip to the cops about drug usage. See someone legally openly carrying a gun? Report it to the cops as something worse and sit back and watch the SWAT team do your bidding.

Speaking of SWAT, there's such a thing as "SWATting" - just an example.

Entire organizations exist to get money or "one up" on their political, racial, or ideological opponents just by "being offended".

So...

why should an MMO be any different?

My recommendations:

If you are going to gank the crap out of people, you can do more damage by NOT saying one damned thing. Let them spew and fester. Let them still die, for, like in RL, words means nothing when getting shot in the face.

Follow my advice and the logs will show nothing.

The only thing worth petitioning for is a rule change: filing false charges should result in a permanent ban.

Very true. But that's where it also makes no sense... You can rob the **** out of alliances for billions of isk which is awesome I wont complain about that because like you said... it's a sandbox MMO it makes the game. So banning someone for cussing when people can lose billions within seconds isn't bannable despite hostile actions as infiltration/spying etc. Idk... It just seems funny to me.

It's pretty easy, one is against the rules, one is not against the rules. You get banned for the stuff that is against the rules, and you become a hero to some for those things which aren't against the rules.

As has been said, don't break the rules, and you don't have to worry about what other people are doing. CCP doesn't generally ban you if you haven't broken the rules, so don't follow the herd posting crap in local, and you're fine.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

How goes the saying, "Pirates´ tears best tears", is that correct?

But anyway, I once heard that the pirate that is truly to be feared is the one that does not need to smacktalk and generally spam faecal matter in local but remains silent... before AND after he gets his job done. I guess that was just a dirty lie.
Or perhaps this kind of pirate has just silently gone the way of the Dodo....

I'd prefer the game remained inclusive of female players, sub 15yos and people of religion (and any other group of actual people you can think of).

Note this isn't a private FPS game server with 16 slots, only filled with male teenagers who go to the same school, so your standard of comms behavior should reflect that. For all intentional purposes the comms are open, and you have no idea who is on the other end.

Count on many members of the "community" to NOT give a vote of approval.

Thanks for the insults? Say that to pretty much any pirate including those in PL and Hydra... they cuss up a storm in local. But hey... it's easy talking big up in High Sec :)

+1 to the OP.

Filing petitions because you are mad that you suck at PvP is bad.

Just because somebody drops the f bomb or something doesn't mean they should be punished for it. This isn't hello kitty or league of legends. If some bum is offended by something, they can take their ass move to it a "kid-friendly" game, while transferring all their assets to me.

Offended? Grow a pair. Sticks and stones dummy, something we learned in preschool.
