Our last match especially will haunt me forever (:mistakes were made:), but I am not going to try and take away from your victory because of our mistakes. The fact is that you put in more effort into practicing and refining your piloting skills then we did and that is what carried you that match and series against us.

Well deserved and well played PL.

Congrats on an incredible win, our hats off to you guys. Deserving champions without a doubt.

This so much. I do think this format makes for a better, more interesting final day. 5 rounds all but broke us, I can't imagine doing the full set you all did. A victory hard earned.

Tinker match - I honestly have no words to describe to folks who watched just how close that was. I can't bring myself to watch the replay yet, so forgive me if my facts are slightly off (the tunnel vision in matches like that is absolutely incredible), but literally right as the tengu broke, one of your AFs got a jam off on our Sleip. A few seconds, just one more volley was the difference in that match. A great fight I'm proud to have been a part of even if we came out on the wrong end.

Any chance you guys will do a video with comms like VoC did last year? I know it would go against the meta-gamers in you, but its pretty damn cool to hear comms during the matches. Once again, congrats.

I don't think we have any recordings of the tinker match...and if we did it would probably too embarrassing to post...we were a mess. At some point you guys turned all the neuts onto the vulture...I was doing ok until I ran out of cap boosters...the tengu was barely tanking, calling for cap nonstop, I was calling for cap nonstop to keep the links on so that the tengu didn't break, and while all of that was happening somebody dropped a can full of boosters for me...searching frantically for that can for about 10 seconds almost gave me a heart attack...

Had you guys popped that can before I got it...the match was yours.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that at some point early on in the match I saw the vigil was at a good range to hit and appeared to not have great transversal so I called him primary and painted him. He started catching reps, so we quickly switched back tot he logi, and I think I may have even unlocked him. But Gobbins still had drones assisted to me, and before I re-aggressed on the logi he managed to volley the stiletto.

So at the end of the match, I was fully expecting to watch our tinker crumble under reverse TiDi in overtime...it wasn't until about 1:45 left that dancul realized we were actually up on points...

it was actually my gila with my overload jam just a few second before the cycle that got a successful one (pretty sure it was the only successful one of this match). pure luck, i guess, that's all it take.

Tragically I wasn't around for the final weekend, but I posted a bit of the PL EXPERIENCE in the classic me fashion - verbose and with pictures of T-Swift. It literally won't fit on the eve-o forums and I don't want to make 3 posts like a tryhard

Enjoy: http://www.kugutsumen.com/showthread.php?42363-Alliance-Tournament-XI&p=511679&viewfull=1#post511679

or at TM.com http://themittani.com/features/dont-call-it-comeback-how-pl-won-xi
They made it look pretty, oh so pretty :3

I haven't committed to future tournaments...I hope to, but with little baby Shamis on the way I have a feeling next year will be a busy one for me...

If there's one thing that no one can dispute, it's that PL and Hydra are simply on another level.

You guys might be smug, but it's well-earned, at least for this year. Congratulations on the championship you guys.

Good writeup Shamis.

My favorite moment of the tourney was super tanking the myrmidon before the match vs Exodus.
Like clockwork they primaried the double 1600mm, supergamed myrm and were down 3 ishtars when I popped. I was grinning IRL the whole time. Match was incredibly close afterwards so there is no doubt we would have lost without that tank.

Another is gaming the tinker jammers in the tinker Exodus match: 4 minmatar 3 caldari; perfect guess;

and obviously the Sleipnir ban in the finals.

Taking a gamble and watching it play out perfectly is just the best kind of feeling, and number 1 reason to participate to these tourneys.

I caught the tail end of the final match with Hydra once we realized we had won, as well as some of the OG comms that have been linked around:

Regretfully I didnt record anything else during important matches since fraps lag scares me, but still an interesting portrait into our team dynamics.

As much as I love to hate you PL biatches that was one hell of a performance from you all.

Enjoy the spoils and the title - to come back from behind (the irony) and take it was simply brilliant.

Well done, although I am suprised Hydra lost.

I just hope CCP wont nerf Sentries because they can hit pilots at 100km who can't figure out how tracking and signature radius works.

EVE online is the fishermans friend of MMO's. If it's too hard you are too weak.

That isn't really an accurate statement. To give you an example, we tested 10mn bombers with full loki bonuses against the sentry drone teams. They got owned. On paper they should have lived, but one brief loss of transvers or 1 unbonused web mean INSTANT death.

And MWD'ing mauluses with full skirmish bonuses didn't stand a change.

Having a weapon that can hit frigates at close range or long range with high alpha and dps equivalent or better than most long range fleet fit battleships, while also being completely immune to tracking disruption, dampening, and ecm is not a good thing for competitive play.

Sentry drones won't significantly impact balance on TQ because real fights involve a lot of warping, and sentry drones are a pain in the ass for that...but for small gang battles and tournament play, it is a complete meta breaker.

The team that we won the final with only had like 2 remote sensor boosters. No damps, no td's no ecm. There was no point anymore.
