Determining Proper Buy/Sell prices, outside of Jita.

So what does one do in order to determine what they should sell/buy for?

I've looked at some of the Market Data websites, and inside the EVEHQ app (when its Price browser doesn't crash on me), and I see that it pretty much all routes to Jita. for example, in EVEHQ, if you use the Bulk Download option, it ONLY downloads data from Jita.

for these apps/websites, the snapshot of Jita is the basis for pricing elsewhere? is that the gist of it?

so basically what I should be doing, is looking at what a particular item sells for in Jita, and then adjust my pricing starting at the Jita price and going up or down depending on where I am, and how many orders for a particular item are available in the non-Jita region I am in?

or should I just say eff it, and just take everything to Jita?

That link should shed some light on the main trading hubs in Eve. It's a good overview to know where you can buy/sell your goods depending on which part of Empire space you reside in.

I pew you too! <3

Look at the price history for the past month, and check the moving average at the bottom. If the moving is really slow, you're going to have problems selling at the listed prices. Set your sell order at the bottom of the historical range. If the average is high, you can set your prices at the current rates and it'll go in a day or two. Keep an eye on your orders for the morons that play .01 isk wars.

http://eve-central.com tends to be a little more reliable than eve-marketdata.

If you want up-to-the-minute live information, create an alt and sit them in the 4-4 station, swap to it to get prices.

In 99% of cases your best option is to do your selling in Jita - because even if you find it higher elsewhere the other locations will often not support a very large volume.

I am assuming you mean putting up a sell order, rather than selling into someone else's order.

It depends on the item.

If it is anything for manufacturing, such as minerals it will only sell in a big hub like Jita in most cases.

If it is a module it may sell elsewhere. For example, I had several compressed coil guns, a low-end hybrid weapon at Stacmon and sold it right there. This is because it is right next to Cistavaert, one of the starter systems and a compressed coil gun is useful for a Gallente newb.

You can sell research items at any research station. For example, Akkilen has research slots, so if you put up a decryptor for sale there, it might sell, even at a price higher than Jita. Same goes for other research items like data cores and data sheets.

You can sell pirate type stuff in systems that on the border of lowsec.

Another trick is to put up buy orders in systems right outside of low sec.

In general, you are better off collecting everything together and selling it all at once in Jita or maybe Amarr because at the end of the day it would take you so much time to figure out how to get better deals that it would not be worth it to you.

One critical thing to be aware of though: if the station price is near the Jita price, definitely sell it right then and there. You don't want to haul something all the way to Jita to make an extra 5% if you can sell it immediately without travel.

The alt doesn't have to sit in Jita, anywhere in The Forge works ;)

I think Eve Central is the answer you are searching for. While it doesn't have minute updates on prices, it breaks down the price of the item by location and region. This will give you a very accurate estimation of the price in the other market hubs and the data you need to set your prices.

As a general rule of thumb:

- If the item is very very high value (2b+), expect it to trade at Jita prices everywhere.
- Otherwise, if the item is produced in excess in your region (example: meta 4 sensor dampeners in a mission hub), expect it to be up to 15% below Jita price.
- And if it's used in excess in your region (example: good PVP ship hulls in deep lowsec), expect it to be up to 15% above Jita price.

The more easily an item is moved in bulk, the lower that '15%' figure will become.
