3rd Place Prize. Special Ship Equipment?

The on stream discussion about a third place prize was interesting. Somehow I don't know if splitting the second place frigs up is a good idea. Rather I'd like to propose, if there were to be a third place prize, that the prize is special equipment.

Perhaps small guns with the power of large guns? Shield hardeners with multiple resist bonuses? Maybe some overpowered drones? Maybe something that is a completely brand new and unique concept?

Thoughts?

EDIT: The point of this thread is not to steer CCP to actually have a third place prize. Based on ATXI commentary, they are discussing that on their own already. The point of this thread is to steer CCP towards a good prize in case they decide to push the button for a future AT.

Yes, that would be more fair.
If cruiser is for 1st place, and frigate for 2nd, something different should be for 3rd.

Just give them 50 normal Navy or Pirate BS that are the same faction as the Tourney Prize ship

I had thought of that, and so have very many others. But the point of the AT prizes is to award something new, unique, and valuable. Granted that Navy and Pirate BSs are valuable, but there is nothing to identify would-be prizes from the ones you find in the market every day. So what's the point?

Suddenly, Jita would be filled with scams claiming overpriced Navy and Pirate BSs were actually won AT. Lol

Unique modules would actually be a pretty cool idea. Barring that, unique BS / Cruiser / Frigate would be interesting.

interesting idea. Also i would probably go for the first price being a unique bc or bs, 2nd prize will be unique cruiser and 3rd prize will be the unique frigs.

Side thought maybe give every tourney team lets say 10 to the tournament unique frigates which arent overpowered (after all the prizes should still be overpowered)

Unique modules are in some ways more dangerous because they are invisible to the other team, unless they were restricted to flagships.

I like the unique drones idea more, honestly. Still useful, but more visible. Or something like the Opux, useless but pretty.

They need to balance out the OP levels a bit. The two caldari AT ships are amazing (along with the angel cartel ones), the two minmatar ones blow, amarr frig and gallente ships are great, and the amarr cruiser is meh.

Glad to see the full generosity of the fine members of PL. Not happy to simply humor CCPs consideration of a 3rd place prize, they would also like to extend their experience of prize winning and allow all 64 teams to have prizes. Noble indeed.

Instead why not 50 normal faction BSs but with a cool paint job and name (Brutor Tribal Maelstrom) , but normal stats, they do this all the time with cristmas gifts and such so it wouldnt take much work. and they would still be worth allot to colectors.

As a member of the alliance that placed 3rd twice (both ATX and now ATXI) I support these ideas. However, last years ATX 3rd place didn't get anything, now we are at least getting :medals:

It's quite a coincidence that the hate comes from PL. Trying to make me look like some sort of socialist freak. The third place prize isn't even my idea. What a bunch of prize hogging jerks. Amirite?

What I've been thinking, assuming it hasn't already been said is simply a guaranteed seat in the next tourney. No lottery/5 plex or auction.

Relative to the 1st/2nd prizes it's an insignificant amount of isk, but for us at least it would be a moral boosting invitation to come back again.

I would have the reserved seat solely for third place, not 1st, 2nd, or 4th.
