Oh, safety was set to green

So there I was in lowsec, vainly looking for a sec tag rat in a stealth bomber alt (I'll find one some day) when I spotted a Venture on dscan. Yes, I know it's a frigate and torps are not so good but what else are you supposed to do? Just fly away? No siree!

I warped in at 50, decloaked, locked and then my torps said 'derp'. Then it said it again and again and again. Then I realised I was a fool and had my safety set to green (my stealth bomber alt has been busy in highsec for ages). So click to yellow, confirm, target paint and fire! Straight into structure and then he warped away.

Now a Venture is hardly the missed opportunity of the century but it was still irritating. It's the principle of the thing! A second volley would have finished him.

What have you missed thanks to your safety? I'm hoping someone has a REALLY expensive missed kill to make me feel better.

Nothing. I have it turned completely off on my pirate alt. What I do suffer from still is the "QUICK LOCK POINT DO EVERYTHING HIT ALL THE F-BUTTONS AAAAAA" syndrome :P

I operate on yellow in highsec and usually also in low.

My best safety 'accident' involved me ganking a Mackinaw (missed the pod but meh), and my scout alt scoops loot in their Venture going yellow while I warp the main's pod to safety. I have the alt start talking in local 'ooh, a gank here, glad that wasn't me'.

Then a Tengu comes and locks me up and shooting me. I had a total brain meltdown and forgot I was suspect flagged. Suprisingly, their fit was so awful that I could get away easily - each volley only took me down 20% of shields or so and they had a 2-point scram which is irrelevant to a Venture.

The happy ending - my Venture got back safely with the gank Catalyst fittings that had survived and a good amount of the confiscated ore from the Mackinaw. Really need to train salvaging on that alt though, so wasteful not to salvage such a tasty wreck.

Having my safety set permanently to 'Red' and the switch broken off has cost me concordokkenening a few times, but no one has ever escaped me because my weapons failed to fire...

With the ships I like to fly I couldn't afford to be concordokkened lol

we were ganking in perimiter for people coming in/out of jita. we had this one idiot (before faction poses started dropping again) come out of jita with 2x dread gurista towers and a metric fuckton of republic fleet warp disruptor BPCs in his cargo, along with a charon and archon BPO. So we did what any sensible person would have done. locked him up and fired. my volley sent him into structure. i suppose he had a tank on it. and my friend went to finish him off and after me wating to warp down to the wreck with my alt and scoop i watch him warp away...

Turns out he had his safty on and that super awesome gank got away.

Nothing. I have it turned completely off on my pirate alt. What I do suffer from still is the "QUICK LOCK POINT DO EVERYTHING HIT ALL THE F-BUTTONS AAAAAA" syndrome :P

I find the worst bit is waiting for them/you to properly land on the grid. Come on, lock dammit! Then I usually switch something off by accident :)

That makes me feel much better! Especially since you would have been concorded for no reason - ouch.

Doesn't help that I'm new to PVP honestly (I'm sure that the oldbies have that calm collected movement down pat). But yeah, I hate that. "The warp is affecting your lockon" WELL UNWARP DAMNIT *rage*

The only reason to put safety on red is if you wish to suicide gank.

Otherwise yellow is the best option, always.

Reminds me of the movie "Black Hawk down" where the Delta Force guy waves his trigger finger and says "Well this here's my safety"
