It's simple. The fundamental mechanics of this game currently mean players will have the hopes and dreams of being able to play the entire game, only to discover that to play in nullsec you need to buy in with real money, and must join mega-alliances.

If you don't, you inevitably get what has happened to us - and continues to happen - that highly active *players* are blasted out of null and indeed lowsec POS by those who did use the pay to win mechanic. Pandemic dropped 6 reve, 2 Moros, a handful of Achon to kill a lowsec POS of ours ... what could we do? Nothing.

We have not spent nearly enough $$ - even though we had double the number of pilots engaged in the 'fight' for the system, it was over before it began because they could and did by capitals, and we didn't. We had 20 to 30 more pilots who would have come to fight with us too - but again, they don't have capitals either, so none of us could do anything at all but lose. When money means you win, without any risk, it just makes people want to quit EVE and go play a game where you don't have to buy a toon or play 3 years before you can have even a *chance* to win.

Make no mistake. Bottom line pvp balance, nullsec access, and pay to win is about maintaining the health of the game. And as I see things, currently the game is very badly broken in a number of areas, and if CCP fail to fix things, then I honestly don't expect EVE to make it to 20 years. Next good pvp game with conquest and depth, everyone who *isn't* a nullsec cap pilot in an ubercorp will walk out.

It's like every game.

Lets bring out World Of Warcraft.
You cannot Solo a Raid.
Just as you Cannot "solo" null-sec

Its meant too require teamwork.

When you look back at what PL did too your POS i understand in some ways, there is nothing you can do. But its not because anyone is spending real money on it.

theres plenty of people in eve that can do the same cause they have worked for it and played the game along time.

I would think eve is for mostly specially interested people etc. but i feel this game is not your game =P

This game is meant too have large alliances and people working together. these capital fleets rely on teamwork. And if your little group could stop people working together.. that would make the game broken =)

The design of null doesnt attract people there because to operate out of alliance in null is a massive PITA.

I will agree with this. How could it be improved? I don't know.

Some more NPC Stations. I liked the idea of HS-pockets. I'm a newb having an alt thats roamong thru 0 a bit and has yet to find oit what to do there...

Make 0 somehow "accessible" for soloers too. I know its accessible, but a sustained being there seems to me till now at least not feasible.

Did you read the post actually? Coz if I understood there were some more friends on the loosing side than on the winning. Meaning that - assuming both parties knew about the same about game mechs, that indeed it was kinda ptw.

I could just have upplexed them.

Was also wondering: you can't solo 0. that completely true? I mean, how much do I have to pay to get me a tiny sov in derp blue for me alone?

Possible or not?

Any alliance want to offer me? how would that look... Play time of three months apprx and holding sov with a one man corp...

Dunno nuff yet, but "all's possible with nuff €€€" I'd assume.

RL Money can buy you characters and ships but it don't buy you skill. My corpmates just killed a 2.4b fleet hurricane a week ago who didn't have a single non-faction thing on his ship besides the damage control. It took less than 20 seconds for him to vaporize, and that is just one example. I don't hate RL rich people. I love them...every shiney module they drop :)
As for PLEX: If anyone runs to the EVE store and buys a PLEX, thankyou. You just supported CCP who can turn your investment into further game development and content.

B/c the whole "ships and modules don't matter in a fight" argument is ********, and by using extremes you make it impossible to ignore the point.

New premise
1) two pilots with identically spent SP
2) pilots have equal knowledge
3)ships are well fit for pvp
4) First ship is entirely meta 1
5) Second ship is entirely tech 2
Outcome -> expensive stuff wins again.

In the event that the battleground is fielded by people who have actually played the game before... cash makes you win.

We done pretending that all the PVPers spending billions on ships aren't doing it b/c the expensive stuff gives them an advantage?

Or all you all going to keep arguing the facade?

P.S. Also seems that you missed the part where I specified "Put Anyone in a rookie ship".... b/c hate you admit but no amount of "player skill" is going to save some from being out ISKed

This is simply incorrect.
The pilot who controls the engagement and understands the enemy will still usually win.

Fitting requirements also play into it.

Example: Medium Shield Extenders and the flow on effect in fitting they create with frigates.

T2 MSE is usually harder to fit - meaning you may be sacrificing a damage or tracking mod or maybe Damage Control in the lows to get a T2 extender on.
The T2 Extenders also give you a bigger sig radius making you easier to hit. Turn an MWD on and that penalty is also multiplied.

The T1 fit player will end up using faction ammo and could track better (due to ammo or easier fitting leaving a low free for a tracking doover) than the guy using T2 allowing him to get more real DPS into the target.

So it's not just - Fit T2 and you will win. It is much more complex than that.

If a person was to somehow convince CCP into giving them 10 toons with "All V's" and 100 Trillion ISK, what do you think more likely:

* Get mates, start a Null Megacorp and destroy all gameplay in EVE
* They get bored within a month and go play something else

The amount of work required even to wipe your butt in this game is staggering.

Someone could give me 10 Tech moons right now, and I'd need more spreadsheets then I would create at work, to even figure out the logistics of keeping them running, even forgetting what skills I'd have to train first.

It's a Sandbox, there is no "winning", unless you consider "winning" making people cry, and we can do that quite easily with a bunch of cheap gank catalysts.

Anything weird done on a very large scale in EVE would start creating little spikes on the CCP magic graphs, and attract DEV's attention, and then wiping butts would also start requiring forms in triplicate.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Every time CCP tries to do something for the newbies all the veterans get butthurt and start crying, whining, protesting and threatening to quit. The incident in Jita is a perfect example.

They say "the game shouldn't be pay to win" but it is already.
I guess these "veteran" players like being at the top of their game and don't want anyone else wandering into their territory or catching up to them, they like having the upper hand over the newbies and there's only a handful of genuinely helpful veterans that I've come across in the game so far.

I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this but CCP has to make some drastic changes even if it hurts these insecure veterans because they are not the future of the game. If at all they are the downfall of the game.

20~30 pilots without capitals, trying to get a moon PL wants. You are doing ti wrong.

You're also wrong if you think PL needs $ to win anything.

I've been playing null game since I first created my account (1 month to "properly" fly a hurri and go null to belt rat) 2 years ago. Never spent €/$ in this game (only the Second Decade Collectors Pack) and got tons of fun, so I'm continously winning (even when we lost the war and the sov). I already got a new sov, cause working together with allies, doing stuff seriously and knowing EVE works.

"pay2win" seems and stupid statement to me.

Love to see that hypothetical game you talk about, seriously.
