Need help with a proteus low/null exploration+stealth fit

As title says, I'm coming close to getting my skills finish to fly a proteus, and I would like to do exploration in null/low secs under cover.
Maybe kill a few rats. Just roaming around.

Any ideas for a decent fit (except "get a tengu/loki/legion")?

Cheers.

I considered this (for Blood/Sansha) but never acted on it; ymmv:

[Proteus, exploration MWDblasters test]
Corpum C-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Armor EM Hardener II
Armor Thermic Hardener II
Damage Control II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Capacitor Power Relay II

Corelum C-Type 10MN MicroWarpdrive
Stasis Webifier II
Cap Recharger II

Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Prototype Cloaking Device I
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Combat Scanner Probe I
Salvager I

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II

Proteus Defensive - Nanobot Injector
Proteus Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Proteus Offensive - Drone Synthesis Projector
Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors

Ogre II x4

Of course you get quite a bit more flexibility if you carry around extra subs and dock to swap (Emergent Locus Analyzer and Covert Reconfiguration for probing). But if you're going to use drones, the sub options on the Proteus are horribly limited in the first place so it might not be worth it.

For the record, I ended up with a Tengu. And yes, it really is that good.

Ishtar if you have to go Gallente. about as efficient as Tengu, but 4 times cheaper. you will get caught and popped in nullsec sooner or later.

ive been wanting to fly the Proteus for a long time...it's a weak ship, lets see what the hybrid boost does to it.

Thanks.

I do know a tengu atm will out perform.
I have an alt which is also going into a tengu.

I just want something else beside another missile ship, and as I have a gallente, I want to try a proteus as well.

How about something like this:

[Proteus, exploration fit]
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Armor Explosive Hardener II
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

10MN Afterburner II
Stasis Webifier II
Cap Recharger II

Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Core Scanner Probe I
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Void M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Void M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Void M
Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Void M

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating
Proteus Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors

Hobgoblin II x5
Hobgoblin SD-300 x5
Hornet EC-300 x5

Will this be decent enough for some casual exploration?
And maybe keep a codebreaker / analyzer in the cargo hold in case I find a place to switch gear?

At the very least you'll want to swap the plate for a MAR and the Augmented Plating for a Nanobot Injector. Also, the TD-300s are utterly worthless. What kind of sites are you expecting to be able to run with that thing? It might be able to take a 4/10 slowly but I can't see it doing any more than that (especially considering you don't have any profession gear on there).

Well I was copying another fit, which also marked as semi pvp in case I do get caught and won't be that of an easy pray.

Another option is of course bringing with me extra sets and gear for complex and for pvp.

Also about MAR, won't it bring the EHP to low to be worth roaming in low / null?

(and to be honest, except pvp, the ship seems indeed way too weak to be used... but I don't want to start learning for missiles...)

I know next to nothing about the Proteus or hybrid weapons, but in regards to armour tanking on a strategic cruiser... well, I'll simply say what you've got is not going to cut it. If you are going to be doing PvE, you need an armour repper, and that is simply all there is to it. Go expensive. The whole point with T3s is to maximize their potential with maximum pimpage. I think the best medium repper you can get are the Corpus/Centum/Centii A-types, and they -are- worthwhile. Meanwhile, use the nanobot injector, and slap on a pair of hardeners for your chosen rats (I find a pair of x-type em and thermic give me plenty of tank vs Sansha rats.)

The rest can all be damage. EHP is irrelevant (my legion has a measly 28k EHP against Em and Thermal damage. Never been past 2/3 of my armour) Plate is useless. DCU is gimping your potential DPS. And don't lie to yourself and say you can fit your Proteus to be an all-in-one hybrid PvE/PvP platform. Pick one or the other. Because choosing both is a bit like combining a tractor and a Formula 1 race car. Rats will eat you alive. Gankers will cry sweet tears of joy upon getting your killmail.

Not to mention, the only times I've ever lost a ship whilst ratting in nullsec, it was almost always to groups of at least four, on up to a few dozen. If they're out to get you, there's really no such thing as being "semi-difficult prey". You either evade, or you die.

Ok thanks, I see what you mean.

How about this for a start?

This for stealth / roaming:

Heavy Neutron Blaster II, Null M
Salvager II

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Proteus Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Proteus Offensive - Hybrid Propulsion Armature
Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors

Hobgoblin II x5
Warrior II x5
Hammerhead II x5
Ogre II x3

First one will give me about 572 dps, and I will get an omni of 459 tank.
The second I can set according to the rats and the dps will be about 697.

This sounds better?
Both I can afford and it doesn't look too "blingy" to suicide ganked in high-sec too much.

Get a Tengu, Legion or Loki...

Proteus is the worst T3 for exploration for a reason

How may I drug you with drugs?

if you really must use a proteus for null or low i would suggest making sure its a quiet space that you wont come upder attack if not make sure to field the anti bubble part for null and a covert op cloak it will cut your dps but will allow for safer exploration but if you dont want to do that fit all out dps and tank
