hello guys. I'm currently in a raven and I'm looking for a new ship to use.

I have a sniper raven but i'm looking for some thing with more DPS and better tanking then a raven.

Is the Tengu the ship i'm looking for?

The DPS of the Tengu will largely depend on the target ... it use Cruiser size weapons after all ...

Tanking could be better, due to smaller sig radius and speed.

I think you should look for the Scorpion Navy Issue and the Raven Navy Issue ... +50% hit points overall, more launcher slots so more DPS ...

Also, for PvE or PvP ? Vastly different styles of play ...

SNI for more tank, RNI for more damage application.
Not sure how the Golem currently works out, but i'd say a solid ship, not the best one in terms of isk/h. Mostly overshadowed by turret ships.

Tengu has more tank, but less DPS. All the cruise missile hulls (Raven, Typhoon, SNI, Golem, etc.) now have equal cruise missile DPS. Boosting DPS on those hulls involves sentry drones and/or guns.

Raven has both RoF and missile speed bonus, which is very nice.
SNI is tanky and easy to fit.
RNI is tight on fitting, but is easier to maximize applied DPS due to it's built-in rigor bonus.
Golem lets you loot and salvage on they fly.
Typhoon and TFI can do some heavy extra DPS via sentry drones if you're willing to use a bare minimum shield tank.

Honestly, because of the RoF and missile speed bonus (and shield tank,) I'm of the opinion that the Raven is the best of the bunch.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Standard questions:

a) what's your current fit? All of it, not just the things you consider tank-related.

b) what kind of PvE? There's a big difference between L3s, L4s, exploration, ratting, etc.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Tengu is good for blitzing kinetic weak missions, outside of that you either take a huge DPS hit by using different missiles, or by hitting large resists. For non-blitz kinetic weak missions, the only way you will outdps a raven is to fit HAMs and then you waste a lot of travel time.

I suspect your fit/strategy is not the best, rather than the hull

I personally used both ships, RNI and Tengu and i think the ham tengu is way better and faster.

I can hit for about 1000 dps with great damage to cruisers/frigs, takes about 2/3 volleys of the very fast firing hams to kill cruisers and 1/2 to kill frigates ( with the target painter on them )

My range is 26km with 1 range rig 1 flare and 1 rigor.

So all in all, i can kill, i can loot, i can blitz and i have a hell of a tank and much more fun flying the tengu than i had with the RNI.

My RNI is actually in a contract waiting to be sold :P

Both EFT and pyfa allow you export a forum-formatted fit. "Copy to clipboard" in EFT; don't recall what pyfa calls it.

It is called "To Clipboard" in PYFA ...
