I've been doing some 1vs1 recently, and surprisingly haven't been jumped much. The last few times I've asked the other person to join a fleet with my alt, and vice versa, so we know we aren't in some fleet to jump each other.

Just now, I did just that, with somebody in a noob corp. As soon as I took his can, he fired, then I fired back, a drake, ospry navy issue, sleip, and raven were red to me as well and could fire at me. I didn't understand how this could happen, what rule did they use here to get that to happen to me?

Was he in an NPC corp, or a noob corp (like Eve University)? If the latter, his corp mates get aggro on you. If the former, it may be that they were fellow members of whatever NPC corp (Caldari Provisions, etc.)?

The problem was the person I took the can from was not in the corp of the others who got aggro on me (they were all in a well known corp) that was what was confusing to me

The can you thought was the lonesome guys was in fact theirs?

They were neutral remote repping the guy or giving other assistance maybe?

The can was correct, and he was the one to shoot me first. But I didn't consider the others were hanging around remotely doing something to him, then docking in the station and switching ships. Is that possible? Nobody was repping, but perhaps something else

I'm guessing they docked and changed ships only after you saw them red and fired upon them?

If they were remote sensor boosting, remote repping or anyhting else in this vein to the guy you were fighting, once combat had commenced, they will become flashy red to you.

At this point, they are still unable to fire on you without concord intervention. Only when you fire upon them, can they return fire.

Not being in fleet with the guy you were fighting has no bearing on whether or not they can shoot you. They can only shoot you once you have shot at, set drones on them etc.

Well that is strange again then, because I certainly did not fire on them... at least not before they shot me. I stayed on primary until it was gone before I even considered the others.

Confusing.
