Eve Launcher crash as patch installs

Ever since one of the most recent 6mb patches came out, my launcher fails to install the patch after it's downloaded. It simply goes to install, then closes within an instant.

The only way I can patch now is by running the repair file (and that doesn't solve the launcher problem)
I've searched most of the eve-wiki fix guides but nothing seems to exactly match.

I'd also appreciate some insight on this (one can hope ?) and if anyone else has this issue.
