Hey guys,
So I recently got Microsoft Office, and it came with Access. I am now familiar with the program, however I want to create an EVE-related database, but I'm unsure of what to put in it. Suggestions?

why would you create an access database for an internet game?

For the same reason one would create a spreadsheet for an internet game. P

Might be of interest.

It's a trifle out of date but there hasn't been much call for these conversions. (They're also dead easy to do. restore the SDE to a sqlserver express db, then connect to it using access. It'll ask if you want to import it)

Everything. (And I am not being sarcastic and/or trolling.)

If you truly want a comprehensive, useable database, put everything in it. From ships to lore to market details. Missions, DED site and Escalations would probably be a good idea too.

Basically everything that's on Evelopedia should be editded into your database.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

For anyone that's thought about getting office, but has been put off by the initial high cost, take a look at Office 365 Home Premium. It's a subscription based product, which gives you the right to install a full copy of office on up to 5 computers which you 'own'.

So handy for a family. And it's a complete copy of office premium, rather than Home. So you get Outlook and Access as well. £8 a month, or 80 a year (iirc)

Along with 20 gig extra on yous skydrive, and 60 minutes of skype out a month.

google docs might be good, but for intensive spreadsheets, Excel tends to kick its ass (Due to processing power not being limited by Google) Of course, a database based application tends to kick a spreadsheets ass for utility, though they're a trifle more difficult to use.

Better than Excel, and not bad as a front end to a proper database Blink
