Why do stations look almost as big as the moon?

I just started playing this game yesterday, and everything is great. The graphics are actually a lot better than I was expecting. The only thing that keeps making me go wtf is that when you zoom out all the way at a station, the size ratio of the station to the Moon seems to change a lot, to the point where the Moon looks like its only slightly bigger than the station. Is this intentional, or is it some sort of technical thing.

Edit: I just wanted to clarify that I am not having some sort of panic attack over this (lol), but it just confuses me.

Go outside. Put your finger in front of your nose. Stare at the sun. OMG WHY IS YOUR FINGER BIGGER THAN THE SUN?!

This is pretty much it. Put the moon on your overview and select it. Note how far away it is.

When you compare the size of a moon to the size of its planet, Earth's moon is huge.

Moons are close enough that you can get to it it an hour or so if you have a fast interceptor.

Try it out, see what happens. Eve celestials are in real-life scale. Not counting stations and containers, which are bigger on the inside.

Or just warp to them, they are celestials.

This image is p poor quality but gives and idea of the scale of moons to stations.

Or...undock and zoom out, the station will shrink but the moon won't...It gives you a better perspective that way.
