Whats the story with marauders? T2 battleships that people will use reluctantly due to built-in inefficiencies and price tag. Yet in their description they are advertised as 'behind enemy lines'. Better change that to Behind lvl4's / lvl5s.

Id like to see marauders start fitting the bill of their description, like give em the capability to fit a covops cloak in null sec, that way they will become a useful tool for players and fulfill their description as 'Marauders'. Blackops price tag is acceptable for the capability the ship offers, jump drive and cloak.

So give some love to marauders, they should become viable pvp platforms.

Winter will be when they are re-balanced, at least that what I just read in GD, and that sub is always accurate right?Lol

Keep an eye on F&I for the thread.

Also, covops cloak on a marauder would be OP and obsolete the black ops. Not gonna happen.

You probably read my statement. I asked rise on the tourney stream a week ago about when marauders were getting balanced and he said "winter is coming". I am assuming that winter is the scheduled date, but could be wrong.

While a covert ops cloak would be entertaining, they are not a pvp platform. I would much rather see performance changes. It will be interesting to see ccp's take on it.

that sounds like rp for "good at ratting." you can't really take in game descriptions literally.

Of course they are "good at ratting" you say that like it's a bad thing. The Evelopedia page for them clearly states that's their purpose:

Quote:
Marauders are tech II battleships specifically designed to aid in various types of npc-hunting without becoming overpowered in pvp.

Marauders are purpose built mission ships.

The odd part is that if you follow the links to the individual ship pages, Kronos for example, your greeted by the following:

Quote:
Geared toward versatility and prolonged deployment in hostile environments, Marauders represent the cutting edge in today’s warship technology. While especially effective at support suppression and wreckage salvaging, they possess comparatively weak sensor strength and may find themselves at increased risk of sensor jamming. Nevertheless, these thick-skinned, hard-hitting monsters are the perfect ships to take on long trips behind enemy lines.

How is a battleship that's specifically designed to NOT be good at pvp supposed "sneak behind enemy lines" exactly?

My personal favorite is the following though:

Quote:
Given the high skill requirements and costs associated with these ships, they will generally be well and expensively fit. It is common for these ships to be equipped with faction, deadspace and officer equipment and tech 2 rigs. Due to their role bonus, they are also among the few ships that can use faction ammunition cost effectively in missions.

Their very low sensor strength, low scan resolution, and very high cost usually make them unlikely PVP ships.

unlikely pvp ships.....yeah right like there's a choice in the matter Roll

While I don't think they need to be tweeked to become "viable" pvp ships, I do think adding a covops cloak would make them a lot more interesting to fly.

I know several people who regularly PvP'd in Kronos...

In the early days of the ship, in fact, I recall the devs despairing because more people were flying the Kronos (though only the Kronos) in PvP than were flying it in PvE.

But consider this - when W-Space was first opened to the pilots of EVE there was no intention that people would live there... so imagine a wormhole expedition which has no POS for resupply, where every ship in the small gang has to play its full part in engagements with Sleepers.
What ships would you make the core of your force other than the Marauders - their huge cargo bays for ammo and salvage, their numerous spare highs for probe launchers, remote repair/cap support...

Of course in those days the Devs seemed to believe that NPC jamming paid no attention to the target's sensor strength...

RP fluff is meant to be taken literally it seems, where was the memo on this update? And no to PvP love, as has been pointed out it is a purpose built mission ship, you PvP boys and girls have enough toys Blink leave the carebears toys alone P

Caution, rubber gloves and faceshield required when handling this equipment.
