It's going to take about 20 battleships to gank you.

fully passive tank too, so you can easily AFK

The Orca is good but a realistic passive setup has about 95k EHP. maybe a bit more with extender rigs.
A JF should be the best for a full passive mode but for small items jsut fly a Drake or a Moa.
If you want to be ultra save you could even buy an Eagle as its extremely cheap and should be able to fit a better tank than a drake with a lower sig and better speed.

Look! A single module gives it 180k EHP. Double what you think. Also, eagle? Pfft. A competent suicide ganker will bring a TP and then you've got a paper tank when you could've had a brick drake.

I'd suggest the huge buffer Rohk that was posted for bulk moves. If you're moving REALLY expensive items, then a few at a time in a nano-dramiel or something.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

The Orca is a solid choice for the above stated reasons. An unscannable cargo hold makes ganking less likely and the items do not drop from this location of the ship. It also has lots of cargo space and can get a pretty high EHP, which is good when alpha is the methodology behind ganking.

First come smiles, then lies. Last is gunfire.

I'd use a covops over a Dram to move stuff, the cloak comes in handy for breaking locks at the gate and both warp equally quickly. Or a blockade runner, which is almost as nimble and also has the Covops cloak for breaking locks and getting away from gankers.

Heck, for flying under the radar, I used to use a salvage cane with an innocent name fitted with a mix of cargo expanders, nanos and a DC2 along with a full set of shield tanking modules (pair of invuln2, lots of T2 LSEs). Nobody really expects a hurricane to be hauling anything as it's mostly used for PvE/PvP. It had 53k EHP and held about 2400 m3, or I could put a pair of 1600mm plates in along with a pair of T2 EANMs and get to 87k EHP w/ 920 m3.

I'm moving myself to Jita and previously haven't had to worry about suicide ganks. I know it's about to get a lot easier, but atm what would be the best ship to move around 3k max (per trip) in and out of Jita? And how much would it take to suicide gank it?

Here's something you may be overlooking.

Get someone else to do it.

Courier contracts into and out of Jita are taken and completed very quickly.

I have never had to wait more than 24 hours to get stuff delivered in either direction, even from or to the most obscure places.

Just put up a public courier, and that's it, it's done.

You can't cloak off the 4-4 undock (or most stations), so you need an instawarp, and instawarps aren't always 100% instant; so there is still a minor chance of getting ganked.

So you are suggesting that a suicide ganker is able to both scan and decide to kill a viator within the 1-2 seconds it takes to get into warp to the celestials which are in line with the 4-4?

E: I support getting a ship which can use a covert ops cloak. It makes ganking it a lot harder. An added bonus to these ships is that they better align and warp speed then most of the suggested ships while having a decent cargo capacity.

They would also reward pilots who are at the helm rather then AFK piloting from gate to gate.

Of course, if freighters were given 2 low slots, 2 mid slots and 2 rig slots, then you could fit them with Reinforced Bulkheads and a DC2 - for more tank when actively flying from gate to gate.

If you don't want to get ganked, go with an Orca. Buffer tanked with a MWD means 10 second align time, a ton of EHP, and no way to scan the corp hanger.
