What does the chatlog do if you change corps/alliances/factions?

This strictly concerns changing corp/alliance/faction __while logged in__

I'm curious if it opens a new file, or if it does the same thing that the local does, and simply adds a notification line to the file. If nobody knows, I'll just switch a character in a couple days and find out; I'd just rather not do that if I don't have to.
