I preordered it for almost everything in it. I don't care about the music CD or the book, but the golden pod, Gnosis BPC, Rifter USB Hub and promotional codes are awesome.

My issue is that I play Eve Online, not DUST 514.

I cannot see the point of paying for stuff for a game I do not play.

If CCP were to offer an Eve Online only version, I would quite happily buy it.

buy Playstation 3. Download Dust 514. problem solved.

However, I notice CCP Falcon has not answered my question.. I didn't expect him to anyway.. I have my own ideas about what the code will offer, and if I am even half right, I am happy to have paid the price. I don't really care about the rest of the eve related stuff, might consider reselling.

Why are you so vague. We can't read minds you know.

What is it you think this code offers? WOD stuff?

Yes. Hopefully future beta invite. And possibly something else that would require knowledge about WoDO to understand and I am not interested in explaining here. Its all just speculation anyway, but I cannot see what else could "future CCP products" be referring to.

And you talk about vague? Try looking for official info about WoD..

I wish CCP would just sell this game to a proper developer. They clearly want to make a different type of game. Why does a development team responsible for maintaining a space MMO consistently devote their resources to churning out cr-ap like shirts and tattoos for avatars that have no functionality in the game? Clearly Dust 514 is the way they have been wanting to go for years, where console gamers who love to scoop this cr-ap up can print money for them. CCP can have Dust for all I care, but they should part with EVE for a proper developer who can fix the issues with the bloody game and make it relevant again.

No - what happened is that a few years ago, CCP intended to create "walking in stations". Unfortunately, the first release - captain's quarters - was released along with the clothing that you had to buy with real money.

"Walking in stations" was actually an excellent and very popular idea. Unfortunately, CCP released it with $80 monocles etc. This forever tarnished the image of "walking in stations" in the minds of Eve players.

What happened next was huge unrest and anger among the Eve players. Many prominent players quit and there were demonstrations on the forums and outside Jita 4-4.

This culminated in the sacking of quite a lot of Eve devs and a change in direction for Eve - back to spaceship fighting.

Therefore, those Collector's Edition tattoos and clothes may have been on CCP's computers for years.

Hopefully, CCP will return to walking in stations one day soon - and finally scrap the Aurum in Eve altogether.

Yes, I would love to see some updates to walking in stations.

They should work on making it so you can share the CQ with friends for the time being, maybe play some poker for isk or pull up youtube videos on the monitor.

The heck with just walking in stations. I want running in stations. With guns, and knives. Twisted

Lets go for some full on fighting in stations, complete with not getting caught by the police npc's. Wardec'd, and hiding in station? No problem. Jimmie the lock on the door, and flip in grenade. It doesn't all have to be dirty. Could live life as normal as well. Need to buy ammo, mods, or other supplies? How about a taking a walk to the local store and buying it there. (delivered back to the hanger naturally. This is what Dust should have, and could have been. You could be ported to a completely different server on the exiting of your CQ. to kill the lag. I'd pay for it.

Wow you should find someone to split this with since so many people on this thread are buying this for just the CD and the book. I wonder if CCP could have gotten away with selling all of the items individually for a total of $150. Since buying the in game items from the market is not a problem for those of us with enough ISK the breakdown is something like $30 for the CD, $50 for the book, $40 for the USB hub, and $30 for the boardgame. I agree that this is a bit overpriced for players who don't care for the virtual goods. If you do factor that the in game items will net you 1.5b ISK (3 PLEX) I suppose you can reduce the prices by about 1/3 which is still a bit high if you want everything in the set.

So I believe they are banking on people buying the set even if the majority of us only want half of the items. How many here would actually buy the board game if sold separately? The only item I really want from this set is the book, and I probably would pay up to $60+ for it. The funny thing is that CCP might have predicted correctly since many of us are buying the $150 package deal.

I would like something to put in the CQ. I've noticed on the test server that the pod isn't golden when viewed from the test server. Hopefully this is fixed.

I would like something to add to the captains quarters. Like a piece of the jita statue, or I dunno .. Something.

The mistery code is a placeholder and I bet nobody CCP knows what to do with it. They'll pull it when they feel it fits as a marketing gimmick.

It may surface as a 60 days timecode for WoD or whatever, depending on how cehap/generous they feel...

I bought the collectors edition mainly for the symphony, but I am also eager to get my hands on the book and the game. As for the rifter, well, I think I might put it for use and not just on the table. I might even occasionally paraphrase some rods from certain parody song:

I'm with a Rifter,
doing reports and ****.

Or not.

All in all, I am looking forward to the Collector's Edition.

Had a look. Noticed for CCP 150 Euro equals 150 USD.
Decided to not support such a rip-off, even if I could get it from US for 150 USD.

Aside from that, 50% of the stuff would just gather DUST anyway. Sad

Well, perhaps I get luckier if EVE makes it through the second decade...

^this. Though I expect that the limited digital items are a time-limited release, (so e of) those items are expected to appear ingame through other offers or mechanisms in the future like the Apotheosis Shuttle, Gnosis battlecruiser, etc.

I was overjoyed when the Collectors Edition was announced. To me there's something special about having physical items of something you love. And having them displayed, people will ask about them and I will have an excuse to go full eve fanboy mode and promote this awesome game.
I didn't care about the pricetag to be honest, for me it was my way of supporting CCP even more and I'm okay with that.
As for the items, I don't get all the moaning and whining about them... In almost all packages and collectors edition things by different companies, there will always be some things that make you go, meh... and some that will make you throw money at your screen.
So for me, i'm looking forward to all the items, yes including the Danger Game. Only part I won't be able to enjoy are the DUST redeemables since i don't own a PS3.

so TL;DR
Pricetag and love for EVE and CCP as a company: Invaluable. I hope we get the chance to buy more things like this i the future.

Ive pre-ordered this for reasons like:

- I want to have it. Its collectors after all.
- book can gather dust in my shelf. its collectors book
- USB rifter - gather dust on my table :)
- ingame items - yeah ill get hunted more by my corpmates. Cool!
- Dangergame - I can actually speak english so yeah, not a problem
- CD absolute blast

easy enough, I dont drink, smoke or do anything that would eat up my cash. So why not? I just like the feeling of having it.

oh and I got cool tatoo on pixel avatar.

If given the choice between the Mystery code and 2 PLEX, im taking the mystery code.

The PLEX is just PLEX, but the mystery code could be almost anything...even 2 PLEX!

Here are my thoughts on the physical items in teh collectors set:

ArrowRifter USB Hub: Love it. It looks great, USB ports are well disguised.. Good stuff. But Damn, the USB cord to connect to the computer is 9 inches long! With the Rifter sitting 3 inches off the ground, that leaves 6 inches of cord to go from my desktop, down to my CPU... Hell I can;t even set my rifter on top of my computer and plug it in. :( will have to buy a USB extension, I guess. :( It would be awesome if I could plug it in and use it.

ArrowArt Book. I like this better than I thought. The art is great, but the real joy is seeing the stages that CCP has gone through. I like the essays at the end of each chapter. Love the book.

Arrow Music CD. This is awesome! I've already ripped it to my MP3 player and listen to it when I walk to/from work (3-4 miles) It is exactly the kind of Music I listen to. (Hearts of Space, Tangerine Dream, Biran Eno, etc) Love the Music.

ArrowDanger Game. I was underwhelmed by it... Then I read the rules... I haven;t played it yet. SO I am going to reserve judgement until I get some friends over and we get good and drunk to play it.

Overall, I like the stuff. The in game items.. Bleh. Gonna throw the stuff on teh market at an unreasonable price and get lucky some day.

Thanks CCP.
