How do I know if I'm a Cyber Knight (or how do I choose it)?

Hi everyone - I don't remember seeing the option to pick being a Cyber Knight during character creation, which I hear gives the best stat bonuses for Combat skills. Is this something you pick after you finish the career advancement missions? How do I find out if my character is a Cyber Knight or how/when do I pick that?

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

um I don't believe that just "combat skills" are going to carry you thru eve in the long term.. what I mean is you can have all the combat skills in the eve world you want. but no matter what . atleast from what I have seen you are going to need a wide range of skills. nav/science/social.ect that I think is why the -1/10 response . combat skills only help you with the. "pain" you can squeeze out of the mods.. they wont help you in how you apply said "pain". you might have seen the buy 10 t-1 frigs posts .really that is the hardcore truth. a skilled 10 year sp monster can and does lose to noobs who have a grasp of what they can do and just what they're adversary cannot

Cyber Knight? There are no classes in EVE and nothing anywhere in character creation gives any bonuses to any skills (other than race defining your starting skills), so no clue what you're talking about.

There are hundreds of web pages and threads all over the place saying to select amarr -> khanid -> cyber knight to get the biggest starting perception/intelligence. I don't remember seeing anywhere to select Cyber Knight though, and furthermore I see a lot of threads saying you can start with things like Gunnery V when you select your bonus skills but I never got a chance to select those either, so I'm not sure when that happens or if I somehow missed it. It's hard to figure out what information is correct though because top google results for eve online range from 2006 all the way to current.

Found this in the Eve Wiki, regarding Cyber Knights, if it helps:

Khanid (bloodline)

But how do you select Cyber Knight? Does it still give +3 per/+2 int? The last time I played this game a loooooong time ago you started with something like 800k skill points but I don't have anywhere near that much with this new character so i wasn't sure if I had to go through some process to get those starting skill points?

If there are, they're all very old and well out of date, as there are no bonuses to any attributes anywhere, anytime during character creation now and the only skills that vary by race are the starting frigate and weapon skills.

There are no extra bonuses and there are no free skills by selecting one race or bloodline.

The race, bloodline and gender is all about appearance and RP.

I see - is there a way to get bonus skill points during career advancement or anything like that? I have a character I created like 6 years ago that has 750k sp that I only played for 2 hours. It would suck if this new character I created (that I like the look/race of a lot more) would take 2-3 weeks to get caught up.

iirc cyber knight was 1 of the base lines you could pick way back when.. I don't have a amarr char this time around.. but even then I don't recall ever getting "V" anything.

Cauldron

There are tons of links on google about how to choose cyber knight and get to Gunnery V as a starting skills. See this link for one example:

http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Bloodlines:_The_Khanid

I guess none of this applies anymore? If so, a large majority of links for eve online (at least for starting creation) are wayyyy out of date now.

Any plan in Eve that is less than 6 months is pure folly ;)

All new players get at least one free remap of their attributes, but in general, you shouldn't waste that until you know what you want (you'll regret wasting that remap if you stay).

If you like your new character, then stick to it, but check your old one for free SP and gifts ;)

As eve players we are notorious for min-maxing on everything, from skills to .01 isk increments on the market.

But unless you really know what you want the next 3-4 years, keep your options open.

I don't remember getting to select any attributes in the first place? At what point do you even choose your attributes or how do you even remap them?

You don't get to choose attributes. Attributes and skills are fixed for a new character, the only things that differ are which frigate and small weapon skills you get.

You can remap them by opening character sheet, selecting attributes and clicking the remap button.

I see. Thanks for all the help. I'll dig into this more when I get home and log back in, and try to do some skill planning to decide how to remap my attributes. I played Eve for a couple years but not since maybe 2006, so my knowledge is way out of date and I forget most everything anyway, but I am 100% sure that 99% of my playtime will be combat related.

Side note: Training is much faster now than it used to be. you used to have to train learning skills for ages before it was worth training anything. now that's not the case, so you shouldn't need to spend weeks catching up. You can be PvP viable in well under a week, though obviously you will lack in core skills and would be likely to lose. But less likely to lose than a character of the same age on the old system.

That's what you think now.
Soon you'll realise that your combat will need some cash, and that's when the sirens of the dark side will kick in.

Why grind boring pve stuff or abuse that piece of plastic when you can make isk while you sleep doing trading ;)
