Performance of the client re: winter expansion

I have just observed the last Sisi test (Nov 10). Observed being the operative word, client performance was so poor that I could not control my ship, I was just waiting for the client to catch up and pay attention to me. Others with Macs posted their experience with the last test, saying basically the same thing.

CCP: I realize the present Sisi build will not be exactly what we get this winter, but will we get a client that does not have this performance issue?

Note that when there are only a 100 or so ships on the screen the performance is quite acceptable. Its when space gets busy that there is a problem.

Here are some more details of what I saw during the big fleet fight:

FPS down around 1.0 or less.

The space scene would show about 8 frames, then reset and show the same 8 frames, over and over. Every now and then it would add a new frame at the end and drop one from the beginning of the sequence.

Clicking on a module would result in nothing happening for several minutes. During the fleet fight I managed to get 4 modules on line, that's all. All attempts to navigate or target did nothing.

Chat would sort of work. It was very slow. Sometimes 20 chat messages would all appear in just a few seconds, like they had been stored up, then all dumped on me.

Right at the end I exploded. I was under fire for about a minute before exploding, and in that time I saw the ship damage on the hud update a total of 3 times.

I had not gotten into the pod before the remap occurred, things were that slow and bogged down. After the remap I was able to control my pod fine.

During the POS shoot I had similar issues, but not as bad. About 2/3rds of the way through the POS shoot I did manage to get the tower targeted and my guns shooting.

I wonder how you are going to re-create this without 500 people all shooting each other. Its the only time I really had the issue.

Speaking of horrible SiSi performance... Latest builds make my first gen MBP 17" stutter even in the intro screen...

The SiSi client works great for me, even better than the current TQ (since I can play with shaders on medium with good FPS).
