Pirate Repurposed Freighters

Hello,

I've been mulling over posting a thread related to Rot's weird and wacky ideas of repurposed freighter capitals.
The idea behind the whole thing came to me when I was hauling endless upgrades to hubs this summer in the
Providence(Thanks CCP for that hell!)

So, if you are like myself where you auto pilot through the endless expanses of empty space while drinking a
good bottle of Bacardi and thinking of interior decoration, you may have come to the same conclusion I did..
the providence would look pretty baller with that blood raider paint scheme! After drinking a couple cups of
espresso the following morning I actually set myself out a pad a paper and thought of this
(all the while my wonderful fiancée is looking at me like I'm a deranged lunatic.)

This sort of ship class fits a RP story line, and it also adds variety, however more importantly CCP currently
has the tools to make them sensible! Repurposed freighters; I would imagine them to be bricks with extra
cargo space repurposed for war (possibly devoted stront/fuel bays no more than double that of current dreads?)
this fits a niche of being able to stay out for longer periods before having to refuel etc. Another trait of a repurposed
freighter is as mentioned, the capability to use capital siege turrets + module, with less DPS in trade for a resilient
capital turret platform (hence the RP pirate repurpose.)

Finally, the repurposed freighter would be capable of the same jump range as that of todays current dreadnought
classes. In essence, we would have our more attack orientated dreads in our current classes, and in the case of
the repurposed freighters a resilient steady hitter class.

So, with that out of the way, what are possible issues with the use of this class.

  • Well, with any pirate faction ship, their is a cost fixation to them, dependent on drop rate or build cost (or both!)

  • Inherent issues where they take the place of current dread iterations which is avoided by tiericide in a off / def sense.

  • CCP cays, "Damn you Rots for taking our precious Charon hull and putting Guristas camo on it!!!"

  • Thoughts? Ideas?

Ok, now go back and everywhere you pushed enter, press delete and maybe I'll read it. Until then, no to whatever it is that poorly presented post is asking for.

Much better. I don't really see any need for this. If you want a tankier dread, just fit more tank modules. It looks more like you're trying to find some idea that can be used to get yourself the hull with the camo on it
