Malum Exuro and Star Fraction agreeing to a ceasefire

Hello ladies and gentlemen of New Eden. I'm taking this opportunity to salute a ceasefire between my alliance (Malum Exuro) and The Star Fraction after more than 2 months of war.

If we ever made any claims of ownership over the space we're living in, we're now recognizing this to be freespace that all capsuleers are free to transit.

While we appreciate The Star Fraction not trying to impose their ROE ideology onto us (from NBSI to NRDS), we would like to offer a formal apology for agressing Star Fraction vessels in space and will take every precaution for this to not happen again. We also apologize for interfering in diplomatic relations between Star Fraction and other 3rd parties.

All this being said I salute the attitude of Star Fraction free captains in the ceasefire negotiation and wish them good luck in their future endeavours.

Was this "apology" part of the terms of your surrender? The Fractionists have a habit of forcing all sorts of statements out of their victims in order to stop the killing.

On behalf of the Free Captains of the Star Fraction I recognize the decision of Malum Exuro to view "the loops" (Mallugier constellation Placid) as FreeSpace and apologize for past aggressions and interference in our diplomacy. Though we do not force our engagement ideology on anyone at the point of a sword we hope our demonstration of the prowess of comrades united in individual fraternity will be persuasive in the future for Malum assessing their own independent diplomacy with 3rd parties in New Eden.

It is our hope that following the months of conflict some genuine free enterprise and Free Space ethos will take root in "the loops" and these Free Stars will flourish.

So we accept the apology and acknowledge the ceasefire request and will be normalizing standings at the close of the current wardec retraction cycle.

In the days ahead we'll be taking stock in Placid and regrouping our militiary assets while the council of free captains will gather to discuss our next moves in New Eden.

I'll end with a salute to our various opponents in the Placid arena. Fighting has been hard at times throughout exhaustive campaigning. To all those that fought for their beliefs in space I'll tip my hat. You are a cut above the forum stalkers and bottom-feeding snipers of galnet!

Until next time.

Star Fraction formally acknowledges the Malum ceasefire request and confirms we are content that Malum have met all our significant terms. (though we're still waiting on the return of Free Captain Ruddyn's Rupture class vessel!)

Wardec will now be retracted.

Among all of this, in the four active threads about it... one single thing has been bugging me the whole time...

... why do they call it 'the loops'?

It's appearance on some starcharts resembles a loop within a loop.

There was an amusing exchange in the early days of the war also, where we were confronted by a fleet of slumlord-pets in the Malluiger constellation who on being asked why they had fired on our vessels replied :

"The loopz is our place!"

It entered our lexicon and mythology immediately.

Free Captain Ruddyn has been reunited with the old girl. Neither of us has been permanently damaged by the somewhat unpleasant experience.
