R&D Agents.

What are the purpose of R&D agents? I had a conversation with one and it offer me a subject to research and no further instructions. what is my next step?

Next step is to wait for him to give you a shout, complete the daily mission it'll offer you and collect enough research points for buying datacores from him/her.

The research points accumulate over time (whether or not you do their missions for them) and you can buy data cores with those research points and some ISK. Data cores either for selling or for invention.

Note, even with perfect skills the datacore accumulate rather slowly. It's passive income ( as passive as you can get once you get access to them) but the returns are on the low side

I sell drones and drones accessories.

Really sad returns from this since the Nerf and moving of this mechanic idiotically to the FW Warfare Loyalty Point Stores.

Mine are only really worth picking up about once every 4 months, and even with 4 Agents, it does not even net 50M ISK in total.

It's a crashed and ruined market and mechanic, not really worth dealing with anymore at all.

There's no reason not to do it because it doesn't cost you anything to have agents research for you and you just need to set them up once. You don't need to do the daily missions (although that does increase your RP).

I know.

Issue is, there are no R&D agents at all in the Derelik region, so it's a matter of finding the time to make a 64 jump roundtrip to pick up from all 4 further into Amarr space. Just not worth doing that often at all for such little return.

edit: Not even worth doing for the 20 M or so once a month even if I lived closer. Too much of a drop in the bucket compared to my main income source.

I do mine once every six months or so. It's really not a huge deal. I wouldn't bother if it was weekly though.
