Having read this thread leads me to a surprising conclusion, to negate the damage of the heavy drones you should actually lower your velocity to like 400 m/s, that's when they orbit you and are going to have them tracking issues.

Would be interesting to test that theory.

No because a domi bonused drone has better tracking than most medium short range weapons (almost 1 rad/s and 125m sig resolution).

Actually yes according to the tests. Look at the tests I refered to. If you completely stop your frigate the drones will orbit very close to you and mostly miss. The tracking increase doesn't help much.

IMO this is the problem. I don't mind that its possible that heavys can track inties. Any ship/drone should be able to track any other ship/drone. If you fly your inty directly at a battleship it should hit you. (goons disagree when they cry that they cant fly their frigates directly at a titan.) But what is bad is the drone ai actually makes it so they miss more the slower you go in smaller ships.

CCP should have 2 (or 3)orbit settings for heavy drones. If the ship is bigger than a cruiser leave as is. If the ship is cruiser sized or smaller (sig radius) orbit a bit wider. It could even have a 3rd orbit so that if the sig radius is frigate sized it orbits even wider. the optimals of heavies and mediums may need to be reworked.

Mediums should try to orbit ships smaller than a cruiser at a wider orbit as well.
