I always struck it as odd that: Missiles have BCUs for improved dps and Guns have the Gyro/Magstab to up their dps...

drones have nothing? No implants, no modules (save for the sentry damage rigs)

Yes, Drone interfacing, Combat Drone Operation and the Spec skills up the dps...

But Drone Interfacing 5, Gallente Battleship 5 and Gallente Drone Spec 4 gives the Dominix 450dps? And the drones have to travel there.

You can't boost the drones themselves. If you did then the Typhoon and Armageddon would be OP (for those who choose to fly a full rack of heavies)

I'm not totally sure how to fix this, perhaps reworking the main Drone boat bonuses to help with dps. HellifIknow.


Some of you may scream at me to use Fighters, well, soon my friends.



It goes a little like this:

Warp into pocket
Get aggro / turn tank on
deploy drones; tell them to shoot your current target (target is 14km away)
Drones move at 1000m/s to the target (~14s, more like 16)
First volley hits for 40x5=200 (~50dps)
The dps increases as drones slow down to orbit the target, bringing damage/sec to 150-200 (you see what is wrong?)
30 minutes later, pocket is complete. It would take a Tengu 5-10 minutes to clear it.

I have near max skills and I see this every day. So I trained into Hybrids, up to Capital. Oh dear God what a mistake this was.

Gallente ships and tactics are damn near worthless, with the exception of a few AND the hybrid buff.
A Dominix pilot who is not insane, will not fit large hybrid turrets to his/her Dominix, especially in nullsec.


This is the same as using the Brutix for it's repper bonus, lolololololol.



Please change drones, in some way or form. I have too much SP invested and I can't take it back, or I probably would.

I hate you, pete.

It's all about the special relationship you have with your drones man! I name mine, but this is beside the point..

There are a few things you missed out... how many missile launchers or turrets can JAM people, REP people, WEB people, etc. etc. drones can be used as a utility as well as straight DPS (this is especially true for drone boats with decent bays)
You also have the ability to dictate DPS type and DPS range when using drones, sentries moreso than others for the application you're talking about.

Raw, EFT DPS is a downfall of so many a pilot. Adding omni-directional tracking links to your ship can help wonders with your effective DPS. You're obviously talking about PvE so you'll have no worries in fitting them. Sentry drones are win for this kind of thing too.

Whats wrong with a GANK domi? I love that ship man, and Pete, incase you forgot.

No but really, I like drones. I just wish they were more efficient at what they do. Which is kill things (for combat drones)


A Drake (bleh example) can also rep, ecm and dps you. Well, if he's fit like an idiot.


And ofc I'm talking about PVE, drones when used with Drone boats in PVP either get eaten or just get tanked. I agree about the Gank Domi, I do enjoy it a little too much ;)

If you're missioning, try a rail/sentry domi. Surprisingly decent. In general sentries will outproform heavies in PvE 99% of the time.

Aye mate, but only if you can kill them before they get too close ;)


Surprisingly, a Senty Domi with no guns + sentry rigs and 2 Omni-directs paired with a HAM Tengu delivers some fearsome damage.

But... that's Sentry... I want that sort of DPS for Heavy when I tell them to assist the Tengu....

Sentry damage rigs, 2 fed navy omni-directionals.

1 flight of Garde IIs
1 flight of whatever racial you need

Will 1 shot frigs from 7km, will hit over 60km like a breeze too....

You can assist with sentry drones too you know...

Interesting, though it wouldn't be wise to use Garde's in Angel nullsec, I am not a highsec mission runner. And I'd be silly to faction fit a ship in nullsec, who am I, White Noise or something? :P

I duno, I haven't been doing background checks it would seem..

Actually it would be wise to keep Gardes in anywhere... I realise damage types can be mitigated but they have the highest damage / tracking.

For null, yeah i'd go with the normal omnidirection tracking x2, a heavy neut and fill the rest with guns. Be sure to keep flights of light combats and ECM...

... something that can can store 72 ECM drones, 48 Warrior IIs, 36 Bouncer IIs and 36 Berserker IIs Pirate
