So...what happens to EVE if/when TEST lose and the CFC claim all Fountain goldmines for themselves?

Too long too boring. Instead of a predictable slog to victory that breeds complacency in their "uncommitted"[1] neighbors, CFC suddenly makes peace with TEST whereupon CFC/TEST suddenly turn on someone else and crush them.

There will be much whining on many forums about eve being unfair, and everything from titan to moon mining should be nerfed.

I don't really care

but it only further supports a common sense mechanic of no static anything ever. A moon should eventually "run out" and respawn elsewhere.

Not somewhere in the region, anywhere in .4 or lower

... to be "newly discovered" by an enterprising pilot rocking his moon scanner.

I'm still waiting for all the anti-null folks who talked about the Blue Donut nonsense to man up and admit they were wrong.

I figure we'll get another period of peeps decrying another big Blue doughnut & CCP will either be forced to reshuffle moons every 1-2 years to inflame Null wars or come up with a new non-static mechanic ( ala ring mining ) that is mobile in order to shuffle resources like they did with incursions but is more conducive to PvP that induces pilots to move around more for resources that'll fan the flames or war. Idea

I guess we'd all better rush down to the Biomass insinkorator and jump right in then, since there's obviously no point otherwise. Roll

CCP will send a message to everyone in a random system, saying that they have won EvE. CCP will give them 3 of each standard rookie ship, one 150mm Railgun I, and a large group of exotic dancers. Then CCP will open up Jove space and summon the mighty wormhole god, Bob, to smite every undocked Machariel at exactly 5:31 EvE time, one day after CFC wins fountain. Every titan pilot will be gifted a titan they can't fly, in Sarum Prime. Jita will suddenly become C6 wormhole space and everyone's stuff will be moved to VFK. To please the manufacturers of New Eden, every BPO will be converted into a random T2 BPO. The best part is that every ship will be reskinned to a Dominix model at the next downtime, too!

Yeah, I'll go with this one.

They might need to take away some resources.

There are huge stockpiles of all kinds of materials in the economy, so merely changing their sources isn't enough in the near-term. Some sources need to have their spawn rate chopped right down in the same way that ice has been chopped down -- and we're still dealing with those stockpiles as it is.

I've heard the "TEST are goon pets" mantra enough times to wonder if this is all a show to see if other alliances will help TEST, and in do doing that, expend resources. Then, in a weakened state, TEST and goons make up and do a clean sweep.

Indeed, your financial boys commented on fozzie's number's a few weeks ago on these forums, confirming that the latest appropriation of ice income from high sec to null sec dwarfed the moon income you just consolidated.

In relation to OP's post.

Even if/when the Goons do manage to scoop up Fountain. It's not going to be like it was before. Technetium was bottlenecked and the vast majority of the sources were in the hands of very few and spread out over very limited areas of space.

R64s (correct me if i'm wrong) are more even distributed around New Eden so creating a new OTEC situation would be quite a bit more difficult.

Correct?

A lot of people buy into the OTEC situation and don't realize what it really was. Most of the price manipulation was done at the alliance level (CFC being the largest tech holding entity within OTEC had a lot more ability to control the market than anyone else within OTEC). What OTEC really was, was a NAP against money moons. There were tons of tech moons that were being flipped several times a week. Those moons weren't making anyone money. OTEC solved that problem.
